12th of February, Hug Day - Morning
ROLI'S BEDROOM, VRINDAVAN
Today is much different. Compared to previous days, Roli waits for Siddhant's next surprise with bated breath. Today, he will hug me. When? How? Where? Her mind is crowded with a ton of questions.
Just then, the door bell rings downstairs.
She dashes out of her room and bounds down the stairs. Her mother almost answers the door.
"Maa!" she stops her, "I'll open it!"
Meena is surprised. "What happened?"
But Roli doesn't even bother to answer her question. She yanks the door open to an ill-tempered looking guy. He gives her a piece of paper and walks off. Her heart sinks as she sees what it is.
"What's that?" asks her mother.
Roli simply hands it over and slumps down onto the couch.
"Oh!" remarks Meena, "it's the electricity bill. I was wondering why it was taking so long."
Roli is in an exceptionally bad mood now. She was expecting to see Siddhant at the door, not this grumpy fellow! Where is he, she wonders angrily.
Meena notices. "What's wrong beta?" she asks, concerned.
DING-DONG! It's the door again! Meena is dumbfounded to see her daughter race to the door. "Arrey! Slowly!!!"
Roli opens the door with a thumping chest and looks around. But - no one!
But... who rang the bell? Just then, a whimper at her feet catches her attention. It's a cute little puppy with a beautiful red satin bow tie around its neck! Aww... She picks it up and finds a note:
"Roli... I'm dying here! I just want to hug you so tight! Cause when I hug you, I feel like I have the whole world in my arms. Love you sooo much! By the way, I came across this cute little guy and couldn't resist. I know you'll love him! And I couldn't stop myself again... I kissed him! Problem is... my soul slipped into his body. See? I'm dying inch by inch! My blood is in those roses... my heart is in that teddy... and now my soul is in this puppy! Now all what is left of me is my breath... but that's with you already. Can't go like this any longer yaar. I love you and I need you... Siddhant."
Roli scans the area in anticipation. Is Siddhantji hiding somewhere around as usual? But no... he's nowhere in sight! She has a huge grin on her face now. The puppy is too adorable! She hugs and kisses him.
Meena is amused. "Awww... he's so cute! Who gave him?"
"Siddhantji," she beams and goes upstairs with the puppy. As she enters the room, her eyes fall on the roses. Her heart skips a beat. It doesn't look as fresh as the first day. It has noticeably wilted. Siddhant's words echo in her head "I won't be around forever."
She gently caresses the roses as she fights the tears stinging in her eyes. "No yaar," she whispers, "I won't let that happen. If you go then what will I do... how will I live? I love you."
13th of February, Kiss Day - Night
Roli is busted! She had been waiting for Siddhant all day! But nothing happened! No gifts! No notes! No nothing! She feels bitter now, maybe he's planning to turn up at night?
But try as she may, she just can't stay awake. Eventually, she gives in to her fatigue.
ROLI'S BEDROOM - MUCH LATER
Time: 11:30 PM
Roli is fast asleep with her new pup by her side. The cool night's breeze fills the room through the open sliding window.
Suddenly, the pup lifts up its head at the faint scratching' noises from outside the window. It barks very quietly as someone' clambers onto the window. It's Siddhant!!!
He is breathless from having climbed all the way up! The pup warns the intruder' with a quiet bark.
"Shhh!" he tries to hush the pup. "Please," he whispers, "good boy! Please be quiet... look what I've got you!"
It's a chew stick!! The pup eagerly snatches its treat and begins to chew away in a corner of the room.
Siddhant climbs into the room through the window. Thank God there are no bars on this window, he thinks, I wouldn't have been able to get in. But again she needs to be careful. What if someone else climbs in instead of me?
Without a sound, he sits beside Roli on the bed. She's in a deep sleep.
He watches on mesmerized by her innocence, her beautiful soul... Wait. Is she dreaming? Siddhant takes a closer look. Yes, he smiles, she is.
And sure enough, she is. She sports a cute smile as her eyes dart randomly behind her closed lids. He leans in closer and gently moves away the strand of loose hair over her face. God, he thinks as his heart wrenches within him, I love her so much.
Quietly, he lies down beside her, closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. God, it feels like heaven... to lie down beside her like this... to be so close to her after so long. He glances over at her and smiles as he listens to her heart go THUP-WHUP-THUP-WHUP-THUP-WHUP.
He gets onto his elbow, leans in and kisses her gently before he quietly makes it out of the window again.
14th of February, Valentine's Day - Morning
Roli opens her eyes after a good night's sleep and stretches herself. She sits up with a glowing smile on her face. Last night's dream was so beautiful, she thinks.
Just then, a beautiful note on the table catches her attention. What's that?
She opens it:
"Hey Roli, you will never change. When you sleep, you sleep a dead body! By the way, what did you dream last night? Were you dreaming of me?"
She pauses, stunned. How did he know that I had a dream last night? Was he here? She continues to read the letter:
"I was there beside you last night, and God, it was beautiful! Beautiful to see you smile when you were far away and dreaming... Beautiful to hear your heart beating... Beautiful to see you nod when I kissed you..."
Roli pauses again. Hey Matarani, so it was not a dream! It was real! Siddhantji was really here! He really lay down beside me! He really moved the hair off my face! He really... kissed me.
She continues to read the letter:
"I'm longing to have you in my arms once again yaar. I love you so much, Siddhant."
Her eyes sting with tears now. "I love you too yaar," she whispers, "I can't wait to be with you again..."
