part 2
"Roli, please ensure that you give the patient his medicines at 8 pm sharp. If any complications arise, please let me know right away." Roli was lost in her own thoughts and missed to hear what the doctor instructed her to do. The doctor put his hand on her shoulder and shook it a little and that's when Roli came back to conciousness. "Huh? What?" The doctor asked concernedly, "Roli, are you ok?" ... "uh, y..yes doctor, I'm fine, sorry about that" "It's alright, why don't you just go home now..." "No doctor. I'm fine, it's alright." "I know that you work with full dedication Roli. And I also know that you don't like to ever come late or leave early. But I found you a little bit disturbed in the morning as well. Just leave. I'm sure we can manage." "Ok doctor. Thanks" "no problem. Take care, see you tomorrow"
That night during dinner:
Roli was lost in thoughts again. She was always concerned for her patients, and took utmost care of them, as if they were her own parents, or brothers or sisters, or grandparents. But the feeling she felt this time was different from usual. Who was this Siddhant? What could have happened to him? He looked really strong from the glimpse she got of him, but why was he crying? Of all the questions revolving in her head, the main one was why did he concern her so much? While Roli was searching for an answer to her various questions, her father (Jamnalal) interrupted her thoughts. "Roli beta, you came home early from the hospital today. Is everything alright?", he asked. "Huh? Yes Dad, everything is fine. I just... just like that." Jamnalal along with Roli's mother (Meena) also noticed that Roli wasn't being her cheerful self today. Something was definitely wrong. "Roli, are you sure?", her mother asked. "Yes mom, everything is fine!!" Saying this Roli left the dining table with an upset (and somewhat angry) face. Her parents knew something was wrong but decided not to ask her about it, and let her come out of it herself.
Meanwhile:
Siddhant was crying the whole day until he had no tears left. There were many thoughts revolving around his head too. He was thinking of his childhood, when he used to do some mischief and run away while his mom chased him. He also remembered running into his dad's arms as he returned from office. Then he remembered participating in various dances and sports at school, and winning many of the competitions with his excellent athletic ability. But now he won't be able to do anything that requires him to get up from the sitting position. The doctor's words were still replaying over and over in his mind "you have been paralysed in the lower half of your body". He almost felt like laughing, as his life had now become a joke. There was nothing left. His thoughts diverted towards his parents. He was their only support, being the only child. But now that he will not be able to do anything, it will be the opposite. His parents will be taking care of him at the time that he's supposed to be taking care of them. Thinking this, his eyes filled with tears once again. And once again, his brain started shooting a million questions at him. How will my parents feel? Dad will hide his tears and tell me to be strong, but what about mom? How will she feel? She will be totally broken. And how will my Roli feel? At this, he stopped. Who was Roli, and why was he thinking about her? In the meantime, one of Siddhant's friends came with dinner for him. He was not knowing Siddhant's real position, and because he was in a hurry, he sat with Siddhant for ten minutes and then left. But Siddhant was still thinking about Roli. He didn't want to eat dinner but he knew he had to in order to gain some strength to talk to his parents. He started to eat dinner. After getting a little bit of energy from the dinner, he was able to think back to the events of the day and remembered that someone named Roli had come to get the doctor in the morning. Siddhant had not been in a stable mental condition then, but his brain had still registered her name. Now, the question was, why was he thinking so much about her?
Both Roli and Siddhant on their beds were in confusion as to why they're thinking about each other so much. Roli decided that in the morning, she will ask the doctor what happened to Siddhant, while Siddhant decided that he will ask the doctor about the girl Roli. With their missions in their minds, they dozed off to sleep...
