Suhana's Corner: Better safe than sorry Tweet

Hi everyone, I got a mighty scare this week as stories of burglary in my neighbourhood erupted. Living alone can be scary as it is and this added element can throw you over the edge. Without losing sleep, a smart housewife can ensure her safety.
Mr Bijlani told me that someone in our society got robbed. It was scary to hear details of murder and theft as our neighbour was killed by her servant. In fact later while I was pondering over the same, I was shocked to see a knife in Madhuri's hand and thought she might kill me. I hid under the bed and called Ishaan. But when Madhuri found out about my thoughts, she was really hurt. She felt sad that I doubted her integrity & cried that I didn't trust her. I realised she was right and I had jumped to the wrong conclusion, so I apologized. Both of us hugged and made our peace.
I was angry with Ishaan for not picking my calls and for not being in office the whole day. But he cleared my doubts and everything looked better. Isn't it wonderful when your suspicions are for naught? I would rather directly discuss what's weighing on my mind rather than think nonsense and make myself sick.
Just then a security guard brought a form as the society wanted details of all maids in the building to be submitted in the security office. For added security, Madhuri and I decided to generate a password for entering into the house.
Mostly housewives are all alone at home once their kids are off to school and husband leaves for work. It is up to them to be smart regarding safety. Here are some tips to keep yourself and your home safe:
Don't open the door for unknown people - even women.
Install a security door so you can sign for couriers or any other documents through it and won't need to open the door all the way. If you don't have a security door, use the safety chain.
Keep important numbers on speed dial on your phone.
While leaving the house for longer duration, do keep your neighbours in the loop.
Be friendly to your neighbours so that they are aware of your habits and be likewise.
These are some simple stuff that I'm planning to follow myself to ensure safety. After all, as they say, it's better to be safe than sorry.
