Whatever I am writing in this post is clearly from my point of view.I am an avid viewer of OBS so it does not make any sense for me to unnecessarily bash the original version.I am not compelling any one to agree with what i am saying,I just wanted to share my thoughts with you all and nothing more than that...Comments and critisicm(if any) will be appreciated especially from people who have also seen the original one.......I have always tried not to compare these two shows but I dont know what made me come up with this post...and please dont mind my lengthy post đ...
I have always observed that whenever an original story is remade,it never surpasses the original one or rather never comes close to the original.but acc to me,Sasural genda Phool has surpassed all my expectations...........I was a bit apprehensive when I discovered that SGP is a remake of a very popular show which I watch daily,because I feared whether the story would match up to the original version.......specially since the hindi version was set in Delhi,I thought it would not be that interesting like the original one.........but later,I found out that I was wrong and I do have valid reasons to say that SGP is better than the orginal which I would discuss in the coming points......
1.The first thing which made SGP so appealing to me than OBS is the star cast.I am definetly not saying OBS has a weak star cast...It has the likes of many established actors like Tulika Basu,Haradhan Banerjee and other senior actors,but the newcomers in the original version have never attracted me....The cast in SGP has been perfectly picked.Starting from Dolly didi to Suli-Sudi...
2.Another reason which attracts me more to this show is Ragini Khanna....I hardly saw her in bhaskar bharti for some initial episodes,but i knew something was there in this girl...and Ragini proved me right......She is like a bundle of talent which is very rare to see nowadays in television....In all the emotional and senti scenes,she is just awesome.........she does full justice to her role as a modern and outspoken girl which I couldnt find that much in the original show in the initial episodes..I think the reson being that in the original version,the girl was not shown that modern like in this show......even though the actress in the original version is doing a pretty good job,I have to say no matter how much of an OBS fan I am,Ragini proves to do full justice to her role and proves to be better .....and with Ragini comes another surprise package called Jay Soni........I had under estimated his acting prowness during the start of the show,but I really feel he is doing an awesome job as ishaan...but I dont want to compare Jay with the actor in the original one,since i think they are at par with their acting abilities.Both are very good.......Well I would not dare to compare the senior actors/actresses of both the versions but still I find Bhairavi,Jiten and especially Anita Kanwal more apealing than those in the original one........The dadi in the original version over reacts a lot.......đ
3.I guess a show is just not about the actors and the story but how the show is presented before the audience...and SGP surpasses way ahead than the original version here....the production value of SGP is much higher than OBS in all spheres....may it be camera,sets,background music,etc....I simply hate the way the original version is shot.....the colours,sets look a bit unnatural,the camera has sudden zoom in effects and the lighting and background music.....well lets not talk about it..this all makes the show look like a serial shot in the 80's....so here too SGP scores more than the original version.......
So in all I do feel,SGP has proved me wrong that it could never come close to the original version....Earlier i thought the original version was better but now I have started liking the hindi version so much,that this liking for SGP made me bring out this post....
Anyways at the end of the day I do watch both the shows but i have started being a bit partial to SGP ...what to do...may be the Ragini khanna effect who has clearly bowled over me : ) : )
And i couldnt help myself from comparing these two shows...If you think this comparison is not good ,it is the production house which is at fault for bringing such a better and beautiful version of OBS in Hindi : )
