I enjoy my work -Mohit Sehgal

Best remembered as Samrat of 'Miley Jab Hum Tum', Mohit Sehgal has come a long way in showbiz. Over the years, Mohit's matured and is by his own admission, now more sorted out about picking his small screen ventures. Mohit who last played a rich tycoon in 'Qubool Hai' a year and half ago returns as the rich brat Somendra in 'Sarojini - Ek Nayi Pehel!' Mohit spoke to Baroda Times on matters close to his heart.

ON ACCEPTING CHALLENGES I have been selective with my work as it is essential to take up challenges in career. The character that I play in my current show, Somendra is small town guy. I have always played the urban cool guy before this and this was something totally new. Initially I did think if I'd be the right fit, but, I took it up as a challenge. I have also worked hard on the UP dialect (I speak in the show) to get the diction right.



JOURNEY SO FAR... Every project I took up has been important to me. Be it 'Miley Jab...', 'Kuch Kehti Hain Yeh Khamoshiyaan' or 'Qubool Hai' " I know I have made some mistakes but I have no regrets about them since they have made me a better actor and learn. Many in the television industry do talk about stress at work but, I have enjoyed my work so much that I never felt stressed out. I feel it's interesting that TV's showmakers are experimenting with subjects, stories, formats (episodics, seasons)! I'm glad there's lot beyond saas-bahu sagas on Hindi entertainment television.

SANAYA & ME Sanaya (Irani) and I are very fond of each other. Honesty, trust and respect that we have for each other keeps our relationship strong and keeps the bond mint fresh! We not only enjoy each other's company but also have a great bunch of friends with whom we spend a lot of time together. Sanaya is currently busy with 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Reloaded'. It was tough for her initially as she was stressed due to her injury. Sanaya's never been part of any competition prior to this. But she is getting a hang of it and enjoying the show. In the past, Sanaya and I had been offered Nach Baliye but we couldn't work it out, as she was busy with 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon'? in one season then I got busy with 'Qubool Hai' the next time the show was offered to us! Let's see when the timing's right for both of us to share that platform!



MOHIT OFF-CAM In spite of spending so many years in Mumbai, I miss Delhi - especially the food in Delhi. When I'm not at work, I prefer cycling to keep fit and cooking at home - it's therapeutic! And like most actors, I love to catch up on my sleep when I am off the sets.
