I know LN as a husband and a father has failed miserably.
But I still can understand where Kumud comes from
Of course the cvs did mess up with Kumud's dads don't express thing
Because in her case, it's VC who is more demonstrative than Guniyal
Guniyal infact is happy to relegate her role to Dukhba,
who is more of a mother to Kumud than Guniyal
hmm..Arshi saw the last epi as per your suggestion not the others so far...so context's still a bit hazy...and I could be off the mark here..
But agree with you.
I guess the point Kumud was trying to make was that it is different the communication between women and men...
she could pour her heart out and communicate / disclose everything to her mom / DB (remember the genda phool incident, her disclosure with DB on Pramad)...but she can never be that open with her dad... In the same way, dads (and men) will not bawl over issues in front of each other and these instances get even more restricted if the other person is their son / daughter..
Her mom cried with her to express her sense of loss with Kumud's going and her dad brought out an old doll and gave it to her to express his sense of loss...imagine he had kept this doll which kumud loved as a child all these years (with kumud having forgotten it) as a memento / expression for his love for his daughter...
And even in this type of male reticence...LN is still less expressive than VC...he had loved Saras deeply but never found a way to express it (the early days when kumud got the first breakthrough)..
But somehow, I can't blame LN for Saraswatis suicide -
Dunno on this,...maybe not directly but LN was the single most cause...
I guess the question is was it intentional or unintentional?
For that I am sorry but Saraswati herself has to be blamed for the
Trauma she put Saras through - to go like that while her child was watching
Shows her up to be extremely depressed, or wallowing in self pity to an extent
That even the presence of a child who needed her was not enough
I feel that Saras should've been the anchor of her life,
But she ...
LN was ambitious, wanted to fly high, Saraswati was rooted,
Maybe had no existence beyond ratnanagri and rituals
They probably did not have any emotional connect
Making him an easy prey for Guman
Yes agree wholeheartedly...
I recollect we both were aligned to this POV earlier too...Glad to see you have still not changed your mind. 😊
We make out Saraswati as a wronged martyr and paint LN with a black brush...But its a lot of grey..
What exactly did LN do...he had an affair!
And what was Saraswati's response...she killed herself in front of her son!!
Go figure...
(On a lighter note ...ideally Saraswati should have killed Guman and then killed her self ('Mr. LN you will now not get any!") or just killed LN ('Mr LN and Gumaan Ab Maja Karo Saalo!") 😉)
1) Let's see this from LN's persepctive...here is a very ambitious man...RN is too small for him...he dreams big and wants to conquer the whole world...Despite all this he is fundamentally a good caring person..(proven time and again)...has a healthy ego which is natural...
And he gets married to another good person Saraswati...but beyond the goodness there is nothing in common between them...She is a small-town girl who is content with remainig in RN, rituals, mandir and living the social life of a small town...There is absolutely no compatibality whatsoever!
And yet LN continues to remain in this dysfunctinal marriage ...despite the colossal deadweight anchor Saraswati is turning out to be regarding his aspirations and dreams..
2) From Saraswati's perspective...she's a small town, barely educated girl with small town dreams and now in a marriage with a person with larger than life dreams...Dreams that she neither understands nor is able to support in any significant way...
Imagine what does that do to her own self - esteem?...And then her greatest fear becomes that LN will leave her coz she's not worth him...
Let's be fair to Guman, she has been the kind of wife to him that he wanted
A social butterfly, someone who feeds his ego and panders to his tastes
The only victim in all this has been Saras !
Yes...In the above potent mix flits in Gumaan..
To LN...the single most attractive part about Gumaan would not have been her looks, her social graces etc...but her own burning ambition!...like kindered spirits...he would have seen someone who finally gets him..who is driven by the same desires he has of clawing his way to the top of the heap...
...and lets face it...leaving gumaan's devious nature aside...these two are compatible in all other ways..
To Saraswati...her greatest fear now comes true...her self-esteem is anyway scraping the bottom of the barrel...she is now convinced that LN has found someone better and is definitely going to leave her...
Add her small town sensibilities...LN's desertion or publicity of affair will destroy her world...it was a miniscule world Saraswati had ...her incompatible marriage...Take that away and she has nothing!...
She feels even more worthless now, more ashamed of herself ...balmes her shortcomings for LN straying...is in emotional shock as the cause of this 'sin' by her husband (small town sensibilities)...and sees no hope of regaining her life...
So she does the only thing she can...removes her 'worthless' self from LN's life and ends everyones misery..
As for dumping Dukhba at the altar, yes that was wrong
But somewhere I feel all these are connected and he was completely
under Guman's spell at that point in time, so couldn't go through the marriage
Refer my note above...Gumaan matched his fire in the belly...DB could never do that...she was a slightly more tougher version of Saraswati...but her attitudes and beliefs were still limited to RN
Maybe he also felt a sense of Deja Vu...Saraswati ReDux...Maybe he went so far ahead only because VC was his best friend and he could not summon the courage to say no when this was first proposed...
Anyway what's to say that he and Dukhba would have been happy together?
Marriage is a complex relationship, and rather than hold on to what wasn't
It's better to deal with what was
He wasn't a monster, more a weak selfish man who can't see beyond his needs
So a man to be despised, but not detested, surely
Now let's come to the real fact - he is Saras's father, their lives are entwined together
He is flesh and blood, and family ties are un breakable
The more you hold on to anger and grudges, and keep old wounds alive
The more the loneliness within keeps growing
Again I will iterate, while LN is not VC, he is no pramaad either
He seems to be more like budhidhidhan , who fell for a Guman and life became tragic thereafter
So Kumud's why - I understand
Her how - just call him at the mandap without consulting Saras - extremely stupid
Perfect!
But then she knows better...being a third party observer...😊
LN loves Saras..Saras loves LN...Saras loves her...Ergo she is the person who both these guys will acquiese to...Dono Ki Lagaam Iske Haat Mein Hai...and she knows whats good for both of them.😎
Had she waited to consult Saras..the option would have been shot down directly...then if she had invited LN it would have been a direct violation of Saras wish...This "Oh I am Sorry now " approach is more strategic!!
