Most women do not stand up for themselves. Saras tells us how it is important for women to respect themselves and continue to live with their head held high.
I believe women can determine how they want to be treated. If women set the bar high and make it clear that they will not be treated disrespectfully right from the beginning then they will not be subjected to bad treatment. It is important, the boys are taught at an early age itself the girls are their equals and in no way inferior to them.
Mothers should teach their daughters to demand respect. Not only that, they must also set an example for their daughters, so they can watch and learn first hand. It is completely unacceptable for a man to raise his hands on a woman. It is not only cowardly but also wrong. No woman should think she deserves it. I was very unhappy to hear that Kumud who is very educated went through a similar instance. It saddens me. We will never be able to progress if we hold such a mentality.
