That's exactly what I was thinking.At least hear him out. Another think when Saras did not come to the mandap and VC was marrying her off to save family honour I think Kumud could have refused and said to VC or to her mum that:
Mein kissi dosrese shaadi nahi kar sakti kyunki mein tan,mann aur atma se Saras ki ho chukhi hoon... remember the vows they both took and the consummation scene.
