Just got reminded of the scene where VC is angry with Guniyal and refuses to come for the puja on their wedding anniversary.. Saras goes to VC and talks sense to him.. '' Jaiye kaka unki maang mein sindoor bharke , unke sammaan ki raksha kijiye '' where is sammaan of Kumud today?

It is for your own good. And please say thank you. This is a great favor I am doing for you" ..and cuts off the phone!!. ha!😆 ..how can you expect kumud to be all sensistive and "I understand. Cya Bye" types...

..plus she tried everything except physically transporting herself Star trek style to convince him...she pleaded with him that she doesnt care about anything but him...and please dont go back to your dark place again, I will help you types...but our guy was getting an orgasm wallowing in his self-pity to even notice... ha!😊😊

We tend to mix our prererence for gautam the actor with saras the character...Even in the novel the character saras was a weak, narcissictic, self - obsessed and vacillating character..who only wanted to do samaj sewa because he felt it was his calling in life...when his dad fixes his marriage with kumud, he sort of 'tries' out the experience...but at the first hint of friction and ocassion when he has to be a man and stand up for his love...he takes the easy way out and calls off the marriage...and the entire calamity falls on kumud...he actually ruins her life...Period...

...after that where is the nobleness in trying to help kumud? ...his entire actions later are essentially to assuage his guilt ...so again its to gratify his own self-obsession...

Maybe that's why its called saraswatichandra...after the bozo who ruined 2 families because of his self-obsessions and whimsies...

in the show, they have tried to take away the utter weakness of saras character of the novel by putting forth the idea of his mother's suicide...(not there in the novel, where his mother dies of natural causes and gumaan is not a 'nachaniya')...but weak he definitely is...and self-obsessed..

so after this stunt...he deserves kumud getting married to someone...and deserves a lifetime of guilt...and it will still be much less than what calamity kumud will go through...

BTW:
wonderful acting isnt it by both the cast and fab direction? ...In this forum we have forgotten the actors and they are now only saras & kumud for us!

Superb post HGG! Wrote down in clinical precision.
@ bold,
Remember our conversation post 'TRP thread'?...CB 13/14 march? We had been discussing all these two months back...means, serial script is majorly returning to the original.

Bewafa se pathar dil, dil hai bhi hai kya?

2 episodes and 1weekend, Saras now had reality check.. He will be back to Saras the hero now.

Major deviations from original about the reason of father and son's fight..
in line with today's time.
Deviation :Gandharva vivah and consummation, even declaration that she is his wife and she is his responsibility .. has only made this unpardonable.

But again, if further depiction of the story is convincing, we will forgive him.. Kumud deserves better.b

the onus of- explanatory return calls, understanding, sanity, selflessness, solutions, corrections empathy, sympathy, depathy- is all on Desais! After all Vyas males are so 'hansome', they have all right to mess around everywhere...other are there to mop.🤢

Smrth, you are not sitting on the fence, at all, are you? 😊

I wouldnt expect the Desais to show understanding or selflessness. Kumud "loved" Saras, the Desais didnt.

I recently watched Barfi There is a part where the narrator (Ileana D'Cruz;s character) compares her own based-on-practicalities love for Barfi with the unconditional love that Jhilmil and barfi share, where she says " asli pyaar soch samajhke nahi kiya jaata,.."(or something like that)

That's the kind of love where You dont keep accounts of who did what for who... Who is the perfect , never-faltering partner, and who is the weak, vulnerable one... What is best for your family's honour.. a ragamuffin, or the perfect groom...

@bold,
And he- a neither perfect nor ragamuffin- 'lover' is actually feigning to keep 'account' of her happiness! Do you see the basic pretence?

Ok, going with your PoV, Saras is a weakling, undeserving, lily-livered, self-centred narcissist, and an opportunist who took advantage of Kumud and deceived her just so he could sleep with her ...

In which case, Kumud's much better off without him... Where's the tragedy then?

Let's agree to amicably disagree on this, Smrth. After all, practically all of CB crowd is on Kumud's side, I can be the one of the few on the other side! 😊

More than my or your POV, would you side with objective 'facts' of the story when soon Kumud would turn impatient, not waiting, insensitive, conceited, wilfull, lily liveried and hence weakling, undeserving?!🤢
As for 'tragedy', well you know what, I still want them togather. Do you know how lame he would appear on backstabbing her second time? And 'tragedy' because much as one would despair her mindset, she has aligned her happiness with him only. Not for him, for her I would want him to her!😆

Clarification; I have no wish to change your fence side...far from it.
Agree to disagree.

Been busy with work but managed to catchup on the episode late night. I felt shattered for Kumud and as a girl, her situation is so hard to bear for any girl. A girl who trusted her lover so much, gave him a husband status before marriage and did KC for him and fought hard to give him all the happiness and his smile back...what did he give her back ? Unbearable pain and a shattered life. I remember Samarth telling us Saras in the novel was a coward who rejected Kumud for the pain he was feeling but I thought this Saras would never do that. He was not a coward and wouldn't leave Kumud but I was wrong. Now in one way I am happy the marriage is not happening. He is still not a person strong enough to live with Kumud. Even after marriage if anything goes wrong his impulsive nature would have made him go back to his shell and what if Sunny wasn't around. Now sadly his greatest penance is to live each day realising the unfair situation he put Kumud in and do everything to get forgiveness. I don't if she will ever be able to forgive him, no one can actually. Only time is the healer. It is actually self forgiveness that he needs to achieve, like they say "Papom ka Prayaschit". Now I am confused with the end as well. Tripatiji I don't know what to tell you now, I am not even able to decide whether bringing Pramad in was right or wrong since at this juncture I wouldn't be happy Kumud getting married to Saras as well. Acting absolutely superb by Jenny. She made the pain real. Gautum you made me so upset with Saras.

Edit -- Forgot to add I am absolutely shocked with LN'S behaviour. More than Guman he needs a lesson or two in his life to understand what a family is. Atleast Guman is doing for selfish reasons but what is LN doing. He doesn't seem to care for anyone except himself. Now I am waiting for his downfall.
