I felt sorry for Kumari, because Kumud's problems are nothing compared to hers. Not only is she being used by a guy who doesn't love her, but her mother doesn't understand her feelings. Dugba loves her daughter more than life itself, but she doesn't know how to understand what goes on in her mind. She criticized Kumari for playing with a doll when she is old enough to be married. Well, it's true she is of marriageable age but Kumari is not like other girls. She has been forced to grow up without the benefit of a father, to celebrate her birthdays without one, and pretend as if it's ok. And inside her mind, she feels abandoned. It's not that she wants to sit around and play with dolls all day, but more like a dissociation to a time when things weren't so blue in her life. The men in Kumari's life for the most part are unreliable. The father left as a child, the boyfriend is a phony who doesn't care for her. The exceptions are Vidyachatur and Saras. Vidyachatur is almost like her own father and Saras is like a brother. So if she sometimes wants to go back in time, I think she's entitled. Dugba needs to give her a break, but right now is just scared for her because she knows how dangerous her ex-husband is.
