Umm I think that Saras was right, because it you think about it, he, after such a long time is finally close to her dad and now when he sees that his dad is being insulted he did what he thought was right. And if you've been following the show then you can see that Saras has a lot of aag and passion so in this mind this was the only thing he could do. Also when Saras himself is being talked about he's calm but this was about the only thing in his life that was close to his mum. Lastly I think Saras shouting at Kumud was just him being Saras... the passionate lover that he is...
