Four steps backwards, two steps forward

Wow, I am still overwhelmed with emotions after watching this episode. Especially in the last scene, every word uttered, every expression emoted and every motive implied pierced straight into the heart. It hurt but it felt good. I am finally starting to understand why there are so many movies and songs written about this paradox called love. I don't know what will happen from here on but I have a feeling it will be epic!

I am afraid if I start penning my thoughts on the entire episode, I may never stop. So I'll talk about the one scene that has me wishing for the shortest weekend ever!

My heart goes out to Saras every single time he takes those dreaded four steps backwards and today was no exception. However, for everytime Saras has taken four steps backwards, today, he moved two steps forward! Literally!!

Jalaa? That was all he could do. Unable to heal or even share Kumud's pain, he stood there with tears in his eyes as she opened her wounded heart. This is the moment I feel like he finally said to himself, "enough!" and took a step forward...

"Ha meine woh chithi likhi".. "Yes, I wrote the letter".. BUT, he pointed out, that it was indeed a two way street. If it weren't for her insistence, he would never have come nor stayed that day he had packed the bags himself. My heart leapt with anticipation as he took the second step forward...

"Ab mein tumse puchnaa chahtaa hoon..." "Now I want to ask you" The calm, collected and kanjoos-with-his-words Saras finally stepped up and pointed out the tree they had been circling all along. What is it between them? why are they unable to stay apart despite great efforts?

"In sawaalon ka koi jawab nahi... par yeh ehsaas..." There are many questions unanswered but this feeling is what will make their journey truly epic! Saras has finaly taken two steps forward, will Kumud bridge the gap??

I cannot even... no matter how much I try, I would never be able to top your eloquence. Indeed, this is probably why so many people write about the paradox of love. It's a very strange thing, isn't it?

After today's episode, I'm also boiling with emotional turmoil on the inside. Not only am I all 😳 😳 but I'm also quite shaken at the intensity of today's episode. Again, brilliant job by everyone! 😊

Great post Humeshaa, like always beautifully worded.. !!! :) I have a different perspective on this..Unlike yourself, i find myself sympathising with Kumud more than Saras.. I really don't know if him taking two steps forward is going to make any difference unless he overcomes his own self imposed fear or apprehensions about relationships.. when he said that what we share has no meaning nor any name , I found myself saying '' Dude you have a chance to give it both!'' In the scene, where they get sort of intimate, I was feeling bad for Kumud seeing her struggle to keep him away.. One could say she was finding it really hard not to succumb..!! Her hand was automatically yet reluctantly stopping him but the expression on her face gave everything away...God bless her for having able to fight her temptation.. Men will be men even if its Saras.. If you think of it , a guy would not be thinking of family, honor, society etc at that point but a girl will.. Yet she gets chastised..She is the one who will have to take the brunt of it all...''Mardo ka kya hai..'' like Guman said... sadly that is true..So in my opinion, unless Saras disposes off his own reservations about marriage and relationships, the four steps between them will always remain, no matter how many two steps he takes forward.. Kumud honestly has nothing to confess now..Her actions so far have given away more than he could have needed to believe that she loves him...

Thanks veera but you can top this anyday - just try! 😊 Love really is very strange yet amazing.. possibly one of the most perplexing paradox!

I agree! All in all, it was a great step forward by the entire team of SC. 👍🏼

Awesome reply Vaishali! I like how you always seem to have such great insight and unique perspective on things. I completely agree and empathize with Kumud more! Actually, my opinion is almost the same as yours. Yes, Saras is the "limiting reagent" lol if you will, in this equation. He is the one who said No and complicated things. So today, I felt like he finally took two steps forward and acknowledge that there is something strong between them.. something that they can no longer deny, hide or ignore. It's like the day when Guniyal reminded him of the consequences of his actions - he needs many more such 'dhakaas" to fully realize his feelings and confess. Kumud telling him to keep the four step distance has again rattled him and he's slowly moving in the correct direction - in my opinion.

As for Kumud, I agree that she has gone above and beyond for him. As VC put it once, she has been Kumud Saraswatichandra Vyas since day 1. BUT she will be key in making Saras overcome his fear and apprehensions. On his own, I don't think he would have come even this far. Those two remaining steps will be her support and acceptance of him despite being rejected initially.

I knew you would get my point :) I feel bad for Kumud only because her hands have been tied by that one letter he wrote.. She can not go beyond a certain point to express what she feels coz the rejection still holds true.. Plus now with Guman in the picture , her slightest gesture of affection or concern towards Saras will be wrongly implicated and there can be only a limit to which her family can back her like they did today... You are absolutely right in saying that Saras needs her to fight his demons.. Yes, the condition of staying 4 step away from her has rattled him... He would rather not talk to her than stay away from her... like he pointed out yesterday...A lot of times I get the feeling that he completely forgets that he has rejected her.. its funny! Without even realising he is getting into something he doesnt believe can sustain- a relationship that is! True he needs a few jolts here n there.. Dukhba and Guniyal did for him once and the more Kumud pushes him away , the more he is gonna realize what she means to him..I sometimes feel that perhaps Sunny could act like an effective catalyst in this situation..

Humeshaa, no matter how much I try, I am certain I won't be able to come up with something great. You and Vaishali have very brilliantly summed up all my gushing, all my positive feedback, and all of my negative feedback. But yes! I do very firmly believe that today's episode was yet another accomplishment in SaMud's relationship. He's already expressed what he feels (which by the way, itself is such a huge achievement!) Now it is a matter of what Saras will do to keep Kumud!

Lovely post.

I apologize for reserving and not replying earlier. Last few days were very busy and I was exhausted last night. Weekends are always hectic hence the delay.

What an intense episode! A lot has already been discussed on the forum by some wonderful writers. There is not much more I can add to that.

I believe Dikra needs to take the next two steps as well before he can expect anything from Kumud. Kumud with her kind of upbringing and values, needs the three magic words spelt out loud and clear to her and a commitment from him. Saras would also need to inform her whole family that he has changed his mind and would like to marry Kumud. Kumud's actions have spoken for her. Kumari has explained to Saras how Kumud feels for him too. So really the ball is still in his court. The only thing holding Kumud back is his 'no' to marriage and a commitment.

But they will drag it a bit so we can look forward to more such intense episodes in the meantime.
