Nice post. I didn't read all the replies, so don't know if someone pointed it out. I get all mad when the leads of the show act so selflessly that it starts to look dumb if not anything else.

But, here I think I can understand where it came from. If Yash had accepted his mistake, saras wouldn't have done this. It was not Yash, it was not Vidya Chatur's family reputation that made saras do this. It was the jhoota kasam that Yash was going to take on his mother. Saras's main and biggest weakness is his mother. Irony is she is the strength too.
I can see slowly Kumud becoming his strength and weakness if the writers go that way. The effect of his mother he has is tremendous looking at the few years he spent with her. That too when we can hardly remember what happened at that tender age when we grow up. It probably had something to do with him witnessing her death.

Just my POV.

All her messed up feelings for Saras aside, she spoke up because it is downright WRONG for Saras to get punished for something he didn't do.

THIS. thankyou so much for taking the words right out of my mouth. while everyone was getting obsessed with this show, i couldn't quite like it and i realised it was because of Kumud's wishy washy feelings towards Saras despite Kumud meaning to be character who is well aware of what she wants and is stubborn in sticking to her point of view on something. She showed this stubborn need to stand her ground on what she thinks, with all the issues with the villagers however, this quality of hers used to completely fade away when it came to Saras. It used to bug me when she said that she understood him and his pain through his eyes and yet couldn't understand Saras's motive for coming to see her to apologise despite him telling her. So yes i do agree that this scene was a turning point on this matter of the two of them understanding each other. I feel like finally the foundations of Kumud's character are much stronger and that her principles are being applied to Saras as well, she is letting go of her immature ego problems so that she can stand up for him - with him - to fight against this issue. She's putting priority on her principles rather than her petty issues with Saras and finally i'm starting to see her as a good match for Saras. Saras is a character who hides his true feelings from the world and is clearly a guy who doesn't give two hoots about what people have to say to him so he isn't afraid to hide his feelings. For him, its more about not showing his emotions on his sleeve to avoid the risk of vulnerability. A guy like him doesn't have time for a girl who is so hot and cold about what she wants, she kept giving him mixed signals but i can say this scene has given me hope that maybe that'll change..

great topic :)

p.s. sorry for the ranting LOL. hey, a sign of a good topic is when you have people ranting back with you :P

Thank you. Yes, love is surely in the air for these two. Who knew they could be so romantic?

Dumb. Sadly the correct word to describe Saras this time. As heartwarming as his selfless act is, it still idiocy!

Yes, Saras did so mostly because Yash was about to falsely swear on his mother but that still doesn't make me feel better, tbh. Not everyone's mother is as wonderful as Saraswati. Oh well.
Not just her death, Saras was always very close to his mother and as far as I can tell, an extremely obedient son who always listened to her. He adored her even while she was still alive and with her death, he lost the single person who truly loved and cared for him. Kumud might be able to play that role now. And of course, Desais already treat him like a family member.

Oh emm ji. Thank you, Aliya!

Kumud was never a hypocrite, IMO. Somewhere in her heart, she knew what Saras was made of.
All she needed was to give Saras a chance to speak and I think her only mistake was she stuck by her own assumptions. We all have our negative qualities and hers was her ego. But she put it all behind her when really needed and I think that's worth something.

Now, these two are seeing each other more clearly and understanding that the other person has their positives as well. So the new beginning is not just in terms of their blossoming romance but a new way in how they see each other.

PS: Thanks for your lovely reply (=

before this i was totally Saras FTW 😆 but i think i am seeing Kumud as worthy of being with Saras now, as if she has finally found some way to get through to him. If anything, these two are just as stubborn as each other so that helps when trying to get through to the other and i think that scene where they unknowingly fed each other was proof of that. he knew that she would want to make him eat anyhow, even if it meant tasting the food herself to prove to him its tasty hahaa and she thought she had him fooled by convincing him to eat or else her father wouldn't eat either. in that way, they both are compatible but before that Kumud just really annoyed me. You say, she knew deep down where he was coming from but I find it hypocritical of her that despite knowing she still called Saras selfish and ego-istic even though by saying that, she was proving herself to be ego-istic too

but i do agree that she has shown that she can put it behind her when it matters most. i hope she realises soon that she was about to let something worthy go because of her assumptions and even when he proved her assumptions wrong time and time again, it was only her ego that was stopping her then

^^Yes, you say it right. They're both extremely stubborn but now they've learnt to tackle the other person. I understand where you're coming from. Kumud was harsh in calling Saras all those hurtful things but it was just in that spur of moment. Now that we see them spending more time together, they'll eventually open up and she'll let go of her assumptions (=

i'm looking forward to how the writers are going to bring Saras and Kumud together. it would be way too typical for them to make Kumud like his mother and he sees the light in her and bla bla bla. naaa right now, its kinda Kumud annoys Saras to the point of making him lose all pretence of patience. At the beginning of the show, nobody could quite bring Saras to have an outburst of emotion, he always remained cool headed. even when he was arguing with his father, yes he got angry but it was a numb and almost polite anger, not an outburst of rage like in that scene where he almost bit off Kumud's head because she was adding salt to his wounds. I guess the connection with his mother and Kumud in how they affect Saras is that the only other time we've seen Saras show angry fire in his eyes other than his outrage with Kumud was when anybody mentioned his mother negatively

it could be a different story if they decide to take Saras and Kumud's story in a different turn rather than the typical: 'she is the one who makes him feel like his mother did' because thats just plain boring now - it would be trying too hard to make a 'meaningful' connection between Saras's past and his relationship with Kumud. the writers can do something awesome with 2 characters like this, i hope they do.
