<font size="2">The show is based on the novel with same title.Saraswatichandra (Gautam Rode) is raised by his stepmother (Monica Bedi), who doesn't consider him as her own. In spite of being treated unwanted, Saraswatichandra grows up to be a compassionate, intelligent and charming man. However, when his father decides to get him married, he does not relent to the idea. Nonetheless, his father still goes ahead with his alliance to Kumud (Jennifer Winget) who hails from an affluent family. When Saras hears of this, he sends a letter to Kumud But Kumud replies to his letter saying that he has insulted her father and her family by first sending the alliance and then refusing it. She tells him that he has to come here to gujrat and then apologize to his father. After some internal conflicts, Sarswati Chandra reaches Gujrat and is welcomed by the family in Ratnanagri. Only kumud's sister and mother know the truth about Saras rejecting Kumud. Kumud refuses to show Saras her face as she believes that he has no right to see her as he refused her without even looking at her.
