"Everything in this world comes with an expiry date. If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries." Wong Kar-wei Chungking Express...this quote is for the feel good SKBM episodes...
At the hospital, a comatose Puja is being wheeled into another part of the building. Arti speaks with a nurse on duty about Puja's condition. She is taken aback that the doctor has ordered a pregnancy test. Arti is shocked, she wonders how Puja could be pregnant (Arti, what did you think Brija were doing? hula hooping at the love nest? Sach mey! These Tiwaris are such ding dongs sometimes; they have wind chimes for brains!!). She thinks back to the night that Puja had returned home drunk. She is now worried that her parents would be devastated if Puja was indeed pregnant. Arti asks the nurse why these tests were performed without the consent of the family. The nurse says that she is only doing what the doctor has asked her to do.
At the love nest Govind Shankar is using a flashlight searching for something in the dark. He mentally castigates Arti and the media debacle; she had shredded his reputation in a few minutes. He wonders what he is searching for and also wonders aloud if Pandeyji is skating on thin ice. He finds the diary (2009) and flips through it- he has struck gold. He feels excited that he has found something to control BBP.
At the haveli, BBP sits in the dark thinking, he has a glass of what looks to be wine in his hand - he recalls an argument at the love nest where Puja refused to get their baby aborted (uh-oh, looks like our darkest deepest fears are true; spank*spank*spank). Puja had actually gone to the clinic but had been unable to follow through as a she was confronted by visions of an innocent child asking her what its fault was - Puja refused to kill a helpless living being. BBP gets enraged and starts yelling at her, but Puja shuts herself in a room. A brooding BBP tightly grips and shatters his wine glass recalling the incident and cuts his palm. Rangoli sees this from the doorway and steps into the room. She tells him that she thought all his wounds had been taken care of and healed. Rangoli bandages his palm. BBP tells her that there were some wounds that were best left alone or else they would remain evergreen. Sometimes, silence was the best salve. Rangoli responds telling him that he should think of this dressing as a salve and nothing else. BBP clenches his wounded hand into a fist. If anybody has a clue as to what this cryptic interchange meant, kindly enlighten me
It is nighttime at the hospital and Arti looks for Dr. Bansal however she is told that she will have to wait till the morning to speak with him. Arti recalls Rangoli's words about BBP being responsible for both Puja's and her condition. She also recalls Govind Shankar's words on the robbery and BBP saying that he had to force the police to do their job quickly. She wonders if BBP was the one who was behind the shooting because of Puja's pregnancy. As she paces the hallway, piecing together random bits of information, Arti runs into Sumitra who is looking for Harivansh who has gone missing. They find him next to Puja's bed in the ICU.
Harivansh blames himself that he was not there for his daughter when she was getting stuck in the web of deceit. He thinks it is best that he dies. When Arti hugs and tries to comfort him he falls to pieces crying. Krish and Bhavana enter and are also in tears. Krish leaves the ICU room. Bhavana follows him him out. Krish confesses that he wished that Puja had fallen in love with him instead of BBP. However, he feels more sympathy for her parents who are now shattered. Krish says determinedly that Puja has to recover to avenge herself. He prays that Puja gets okay, no matter what her situation, he would be willing to make her his (this is so patronizing!! a man with a savior complex in the making!! spank*spank). Bhavana tries to comfort him.
Meanwhile, next morning, Arti goes to meet the Doctor in charge of Puja's case. He is watching a newscast which says that it looks like BBP's victory in the elections is assured - there is nothing that could topple him. When Arti comes in, the doctor switches off the TV and asks her to have a seat. Arti asks him about the pregnancy. The doctor denies the test. When Arti insists, he checks some register and acts surprised to see the test was conducted. He promptly summons the ward boy and asks about the nurse on duty - he had requested that the test be conducted on bed no. 4 not Puja Tiwari, it looks like the nurse had bungled stuff up. But the nurse is on leave for a month. The doctor gets upset and threatens to dismiss the nurse from her job. He looks like he is obviously trying to cover up. The doctor then tells Art that there was no need for a pregnancy test on Puja and if she wanted to lodge a complaint on the nurse, she could. Arti says there was no need for that but leaves with a puzzled and suspicious expression. The doctor looks on squeamishly and as soon as she leaves picks up the phone to talk to someone.
At the haveli, near some random couches, BBP is given some antibiotics by Rangoli. Daddaji comes in on Bungoli and asks to speak to BBP alone. When Rangoli leaves, Daddaji tells BBP that Arti now knows about Puja's pregnancy. He asks BBP to be cautious and keep a tight leash on all the people he is taking into confidence. As Rangoli moves away, Giridhar enters the den. Rangoli gives him a slight nod with her chin. Giridhar hears Daddaji tell BBP that GS has mishandled the case and Arti has found shortcomings in his investigation. BBP says that the cops might be idiots and Arti Tiwari might be actually intelligent. Giridhar chimes in that Arti will not survive till the next day - daddaji looks at him and sarcastically tells him that no one had asked for his opinion. Giridhar makes some excuse about wanting to discuss some meeting details. But BBP points out that Rangoli had sent Giridhar. Giridhar says that Puja could be killed and the whole matter would be ended but noone pays him heed. Daddaji is more worried about Arti than Puja at this juncture. BBP holds forth about the "Arti" situation with Daddaji and Giridhar. BBP tells them that it is best that they did not react to her at all - if the media got a whiff that their paths had crossed, the resulting situation could take a heavy toll on them. When Daddaji asks how they would handle a Arti Tiwari, BBP responds, he has spun a web for that, he was just waiting for an opportune moment.
Precap:Arti, at the hospital, sees BBP appear on some tv talk show praising Puja's voice and asking the entire state to pray for her and for women's rights. Another scene shows BBP telling Daddaji, Rangoli and Giridhar that though he had made Puja Tiwari a part of his election campaign, they should be careful that no other obstacle turned up.
