Being from Malaysia, we do not get much Hindi TV serials here as the only Hindi channel we have over here is ZeeTv. And we are of course a couple months behind the current tracks in India. But, Internet to jai ho...we're able to follow the current track in India. It's not easy for me to like these Hindi serials much because there's just way too much dragging drama in most of them. So far I've only like 3 serials. One of them which I stopped liking after the story line just went downhill and stopped making sense - I won't say which. The other two are Jhansi Ki Rani and of course the current one is SAPNE SUHANE LADAKPAN KE.
It was thanks to the Internet that I found out about this show. I was googling ZeeTV shows for I had nothing better to do at the time and was bored out of my mind, and came across an article talking about a new show that's going to be released soon which is Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke. After reading and googling more about this new series, I knew I had to give this series a chance. It wasn't released yet and I was just hoping that when it does get released I'll be able to find it online. Unfortunately, I was not able to watch it immediately when the show was released as I was busy with work and business. So, it was only after a couple of weeks that I finally managed to start watching the show.
And that's how it started. I have gotten myself ADDICTED to the show!!! :) I found the show very different from other shows. It was like fresh air. We have Gunjan, a happy-go-lucky, naughty stubborn girl who may have been spoiled by her mother (If I was Gunjan's age and was out at 12 am, I'd probably be grounded and slapped the moment I step into my home...heck I still get phone calls from my mother scolding me (understandably) when I'm out late and I'm 28). Then, there was Rachna, the total opposite of Gunjan. A sweet, shy girl but scared of almost practically everything. Both girls are the apple of their mothers' eyes. Coming from parents who have thought me and my 2 sisters(no brothers) to be broad-minded,independent, and to think for ourselves, I think I can connect with Gunjan more compared to Rachna, although there're definitely some attributes of Gunjan that I did not like. For example, her rudeness with Shail and the Garg family in the beginning.
What I liked most in this show was the bonding process that took place between Gunjan-Rachna and Shail-Gunjan. And from there, we slowly but surely started seeing changes (for the better) in both girls as they interact with each other and start influencing each other. The other favorite part is how the girls dealt with the whole Mintu situation, hockey and jeans issues. And then, comes the boys for the girls like any other serials. Ishq vishq ki kahani shuru hogi. At first, I thought: Oh no...come on...couldn't they wait a bit more longer before bringing in the love stories. But then again...I did not find it overbearing so all was forgiven. Teenage wala pyaar or saccha pyaar I don't know.
For Rachna, she fell in love With Rajeev, her hockey coach. Now, I know there're a lot of you who're rooting for the Rajeev-Rachna ki jodi. But, I think it was just a puppy love, a crush on Rachna's side. And, I believe Rajeev knew this and his actions are justified (don't kill me!!). Think about it. He's a teacher, she's a student. Even if, hypothetically, Rajeev had any feelings towards Rachna, and they get into a relatioship, what would happen if word got out. Rajeev's career will be in jeopardy. And Rachna, what will her teammates say? Rajeev is showing favoritsm to Rachna because they're in a relationship and so on. And then there's also the age gap. The girl in ONLY 16/17 whereas Rajeev is probably in his mid/late 20s!!!! All I can see from Rajeev's end, is a concerned teacher looking out for his student's best interest. So yes, I'm not rooting for the Rajeev-Rachna jodi. But if ever, it is to be a Rajeev-Rachna ki jodi in the ende, then I hope the situation will be different. Maybe Rajeev is no longer her coach or something.
Now on to Gunjan and Mayank. I think Mayank was quite stupid to carry on with his engagement to Charu in the first place when he was already having doubts and thinking of another girl instead of the person he's getting engaged to. Honestly, when it comes to Mayank, I think he needed to grow up and stop being so gullible(to Seema in particular - during the whole fiasco where Seema was poisoning him against Gunjan). Gunjan's action to finally not marry him when the truth was out was an excellent one. Although, I do not agree with her making Mayank marry Charu. From the current tracks, we can now see that Mayank has matured. He now knows to think for himself and make his own judgement. The helping hand he has given to Gunjan to get Vihaan exposed would now recreate their friendship. Yes, I said friendship and not their love for each other. I'll get back to this later. As for Gunjan, I think her love for Rachna had taken over her brains when Vihaan threatened her. I do wish that the writers of the show had use a stronger blackmail form than what was used here though.
As for Mr. Vihaan Agarwal. Nothing much I can say about this guy except that he's a Jerk with a capital J and needs to be exposed and punished!! And hopefully, Rachna realizes what he is and stops whining for him. And Charu, if she wants to remain with Mayank, it's time she change her ways. Also, I just hope that the writers do not plan to make Vihaan again trying to get revenge this time for exposing him. This track has been going on too for long!!!
This is what I hope will happen after the truth is out. I hope all will be well between the sisters again. Rachna will be stronger. Garg family (minus a few no doubt) will forgive Gunjan. Vihaan will be punished and end up with neither the girls!!! There'll be a new entry for Rachna's love life and it's a good guy.
As for Gunjan-Mayank, I have two minds about them. Part of me wants them to get back together. Maybe Mayank will get an annulment or divorce of his marriage to Charu and get back together with Gunjan after a period of time. The other part of me wants them to just become really good friends but not end up together as lovers, instead, bringing in a new entry for Gunjan's love life as well. Here, whether Mayank stays with or divorces Charu, it's undecided.. It's also a no to the Gunjan-Rajeev jodi. Again, that was a teacher looking out for his student (yes, i know technically Gunjan is not his student in college but i think you get the point) or he knew that it's all his brother's doing and is against it.
Personally, I think they should stop the love track for a while. Concentrate on bringing to light social issues just like how the girls rallied against the No-Jeans sanskriti group and succeeded. The series should also focus more on the girls' dreams. For example, Rachna's hockey. Have a scout come see her play and extend a scholarship to play at higher levels or something like that. More dreams coming true and social issues, less ishq vishq is what I'm hoping for next in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke.😉
