Yes she could've lied in court too, and that's what she went there to do. Shaken and on the edge of a nervous breakdown because everyone was treating her like toilet paper then...no one bothered to care that she's not being able to handle the immense stress. And under the stress and the blackmailing thoughts and the crazy lawyer screaming "haan ya na" she blurted out the truth under oath.

I think Bidaai is the closest show that is closer to reality in present day tv world. I am not saying it is perfect, it has its ups and down, and like RS said, " he would like to be consistent but the constant trp race forces him to bring high-point drama even though they don't add much to the storyline". Most of the show feature a villain and a hero, and how the villain is always scheming and plotting, and hero is out to save the world, whereas in Bidaai, there is no hero or villian. RS focuses on the depth of the character, and how they react to different situations. For ex, Kaushi is not evil, but she can't stand Sadhana, Vasu is not evil, but her decisions are solely based on her own benefit, and she is selfish. When Sadhana was shot, Vasu was shaken. In that situation she truely was shaken because in that situation Sadhana was doing everything for her son, and hence all her good wishes were for Sadhana. Now situations have changed and she is against her. I think the biggest examples we saw were when we saw the situations effect in our very own four leads. For ex, Ranvir's behavior with Ragini during the mystery track, Sadhana slapping Ranvir when Aalkeh was hurt, Aalkeh current behavior with Sadhana and his internal struggle, and I think the biggest one was Ragini's current behavior with Sadhana. I think with Ranvir and Sadhana RS didn't extend it, and it was immediately dealt with, but with Ragini and Aalkeh it was extended for a longer time, and hence didn't go very well with the audience, because deep within we all want to see our Heroes in a good light.

No matter what, I admire RS for being brave and adding this new dimension to the characters. In real life too, even the best of people get angry, jealous, hate, love and go through all the emotions in the world.

I agree that I am not a big fan of girls being treated as doormat, and that doesn't work in real life situation, but Bidaai is trying to show that no matter what Vasu schemes, Sadhana is going to come out as the winner because she is right, and Vasu is wrong.
