Dear Mr. Rajan Shahi,
I love your ingenious story, 'Sapna babul ka, Bidaai". You have brought forward a totally new concept as usual, so all credit goes to you. I have deep respect for your creative sense and very good business judgement.
Bidaai is an ingenious concept, and the more I see Sadhna dealing with all the characters surrounding her, the more clear your concept becomes to me. You really have that innate capability to bring out that 'Other Side Of The Coin' in such an ingenious way ... probably this is what maks you unique and origional.
People who know the entertainment industry, or are related to the job in which you are involved, are the most capable people who can actually give you suggestions. All we, as fans (clients/customers) can give is our feedback and comments. This is all I have to give you:
1. I think Sadhna's character needs further bolstering. A growing concern in the current social structure of India is the gradual decline of moral values, and the sense of prioritising relationships, and handling each relationship accordingly.
What has come out in your story is the same. Ragini in one hand does not understand that the world is larger than her room. She is completely unaware of her parents (and seems she cares less), and she always remains aloof from anything that does not directly flutter her! She knows well how much sacrifices Sadhna made for her (as per your zameer scene) but she still failed to look beyond her own ego, interests and bitter feelings. I think this tells us about those people living among us who have always been good only in the sweet times, but immediately show their ungratefulness when the crunch moment appears.
I couldn't give Ragini the benefit of doubt due to her miscarriage and Ranvir imprisonment, because the miscarriage was her fault, and Ranvir was happy that he did not have to suffer the burden of self accusation. It was just one year, and many people can bear that (it doesnt need too great a strength), and ofcourse, Ragini's own zameer.
2. I was surprised by the brilliance in Sadhna. How pure and natural she is. Now you have brought her at a position which is very high and superior. But, should this plot remain till that? Dont you think that a messege must come out of this whole thing?
I feel, as a viewer, I would like to see a greater dimention of all these events. A transformation of a woman, from an innocent and timid house-wife, into a Lady who is strong and knows how to defend innocence and fly the banner of righteousness high and mighty. Such a woman who stands beside the weak and helpless. A woman who will prove that after marriage she can contribute for the well being of her Mama-Mami, as well as her Sasural and husband.
I feel that you have been inspired by your own family and high values to create the potraite of Sadhna. You must have those high values inside you! ... I hope you treat this character as though your own child (which it is obviously), and insert more and more light and power into it. Make it grow into a legend in the Hindi Serial Industry.
I wish Sadhna will be remembered forever ... not as a desolate/desperate and cry-baby ... not as a woman who compromised with innocence and purity, not as a woman who compromised with her husband's character or conscience ... but as a person who enlightened people around her, helped them, and stood as a mentor among them.
3. My heart grows big when I see Mamaji and Ranvir. I wish to be someone like Mamaji to my nieces and nephews ... and I hope that the innate goodness of Ranvir glow in every man.
But there is one element in Ranvir which I feel is missing. As a viewer, I feel he is somehow leaning towards that weak and tame married man! This will not only hurt his other relationships, and his self esteem ... but tarnish his characteristics gradually. He must be stronger and more practical I feel. Romance is good, but he must know how to regulate this. I feel the viewers will get more inspired to see a Ranvir who knows how to handle his immediate and other relations.
I feel that the Devar-Bhaabi bonding you have shown is a classic. Its evidant that its not just a Devar-Bhaabi relationship, but a classic case of Best Friends, Mentorship, and heart-to-heart relationship of the purest nature.
Ranvir and Sadhna belong to the same calibre of humans ... they have a similar way of looking into life. However, as Sadhna has been hardened and galvanised through the tough tests which befell her since birth, she maintains the position of that friend who guides. The way Ranvir denotes her as his guide, only magnifies Ranvir's strong character 10's of thousands of times!
4. Vasu, Kaushi and the team have been unfortunately joined by Ragini (who is floating still). I hope Ragini takes more time to realise her mistakes, and her repentance should be magnamous! I wonder if you are planning Ragini to help Vasu to join Mallika and Alekh. If you are, then all I can say is that you are a piece of diamond in the industry of television, and Indians have been blessed.
After a long time people of your calibre are born. Entertainment, when it carries meaningful messege and is very nicely shaped ... is not only a blessing but a guiding force for society. The souls of billions of Indians and most specially your blessed Matashri and Pitashri pray for your success and happiness.
I want to give you a tight hug ... and shake your hands with warmth and honor!
5. I heard you are making a movie? ... will you take some actors from Bidaai in it? ... Is it a rumour of truth? I do remember a movie in which some of the most famous TV actors were as the best friend's of the main actors. I wonder if it did well. It was a horror movie! I wonder which theme is in your mind.
I am confident in your business skills and deep understand of the industry and cinema going people! You know best what you are doing! I have great respect of your intelligence when it comes to entertainment and the business potential of it!
