Only people who do not know about Valmiki's life fully will support this arrest or will object to the mention of Valmikiji..
An old proverb says "A little knowing is a dangerous thing" or if one knows half-truth, its very harmful. Similarly, people who are agitating do not know for sure who is Valmikiji totally or his whole life...
Rishi Valmiki is not only the writer of the epic Ramayana in Sanskrit, but also the guru of Lord Sri Ram's two children Luv and Kush, (by the way Luv got to rule what is Lahore today).
Rishi Valmiki's transition from a robber to a sage was an instance of a realisation of a person that one needs to bear the fruit of his Karma.
Valmiki's original name was Ratnakar, in this name he used to rob people. Valmiki was destined to become a great Sage and had to write the epic Ramayan, which is based on Lord's life. It so happened, Brahmaji took the guise of a sage and went to Ratnakar robber, Ratnakar wanted to snatch all his belongings. Brahmaji asked Ratnakar, why he was doing such a horrandrous crime, Ratnakar said that he had to bring up his family--his parents, wife, children and if he is commiting a sin for them, those family members will also happily bear the punishment for his sins with him. Brahmaji asked Ratnakar/Valmiki that he doubts that... Ratnakar tied Brahmaji with rope and went to ask his family whether they are going to bear the fruits of his sin.. the family members said that its Ratnakar's duty to feed them or bring them up, so in no way are they responsible for Ratnakar's sins... Ratnakar should look after them and whatever way Ratnakar adopts, is solely Ratnakar's decision and in no way the family members will bear the fruit of his sins...Ratnakar alone has to bear the punishment for all his sins...
This changed the entire life of Ratnakar and he was renamed Rishi Valmiki.. and Mata Saraswati blessed him and he became one of the greatest sages of all all time....
Now, my intention to write this here, is only to give people some more idea about Valmikiji, other than the fact that he wrote Ramayan....
People now need to decide, whether indeed the example of Valmiki's transformation was not appropriate. I feel it could have been the best example that creatives could have given... if a robber can transform to a sage, then no transformation is impossible...Rishi Valmiki's example has always been stated to strengthen a hopeless case and in order to stregthen Alekhs mental condition, no other example would have been appropriate...Whenever people falter or hesitate, they cling to religious scriptures or our Holy books, whichever religion it might be.. all our Holy books gives examples of what people need to follow in our daily lives... Alas! not many poeple read these....
