sanskar are the moral rules for any person. The other meaning of sanskar is ethics...
However, the Indian history & people have observed a difference in how it is applied to the male & female...
like what was mentioned by Kaveri in one of the episodes, if a male walks out, it is always the female's faulty...females, if they walk out, they are immoral, never mind if there was a history of abuse, mental and/or physcial, behind the closed doors.
Laxmi is sanskaari, but marrying your brother in law after divorce, is not really part of Indian culture & hence is not sanskaari..or rather it is not accepted by the moral guardians residing in our society.
Cultures change, people change & the definition of sanskaar/sanskaari should change too...but it doesnt. There are heaps around to point fingers...& even if we dont want to think about them, we are an integral part of the society.Yes, divorces happen more than before, even in India, but ask those who go through it, if they dont have to fight to live a dignified life.
India has miles to go even now to happily accept that you can be sanskaari despite a divorce! & if u want to argue still, remember, the rural population is 3-4 times the urban population in India...& i talk about India as a whole.
I know i should not voice this openly & can be showered with fatti chappals & sade tomatoes...but being someone who has witnessed this in close quarters makes me take this stand...
