why call Ganga when name is Janvi

Recently started seeing this. If her name is Ganga then why is she called Janvi. Did Sagar and Janvi know each other then why she married his brother.

nobody except saagar adn kaveri father knows she is ganga

Ganga is her name. She falls in love with Sagar. There is another guy Madan who loves Ganga. Ganga gets to know that Sagar is to be married to another girl. So she jumps into the River Ganges. She is saved by Khurana whose daughter is Kaveri. She tells Khurana that her name is Jhanavi. But Khurana knows that she was cheated by somebody and so she has changed her name.

Meantime, Ganga's mom tells Sagar that Ganga is dead and she dies too. So Sagar comes back thinking Ganga to be dead. He is forced by his family to marry Kaveri and he gets engaged to her. Circumstances are such that Ganga and Sagar do not meet at all. Sagar is also referred to at home as Sunny.

Thanks. So this means that Sagar and Ganga had never meant before and think the other one is dead or married to someone else. So why she married his brother.

Actually Ganga and Sagar have met each other before.
but providence is such that Ganga keeps hearing about Sunny without meeting him and Sunny/Sagar keeps hearing about Jhanavi without ever seeing her.

Meantime Jhanavi and Shekar's (Sunny's tau's son) daughter gudiya get real close and jhanvi saves Gudiya's life and Shekar's family many times, due to which Khurana and Kaveri decide to get Jhanavi and Shekar married. It is also decided that kaveri and Sunny would also get married at the same time. Sunny who is in London is returning, takes Shekar's car from the airport to meet Jhanavi who has called him to some temple (she has just realised that Sunny is her Sagar and that the girl he is engaged to is Kaveri didi) and he meets with an accident in which he loses his sight. he kinda recognises Jhanavi's voice as his ganga's voice and tells her too... He goes to Bangalore for an operation and Shekar and Jhanavi are to be married that day... the day that he returns.

I just want to thank you all for the info. I just started watching this show too.

Actually, Jhanvi is only pretending to be married to Shekhar, he died before they got married. And Kaveri and Sunny were engaged.
