'I'm looking for someone special' It's always a challenge for any actor to get recognised by his new name on screen, especially if he's already known for a role he's performed in the past. Chaitanya Choudhry, who essayed the role of the lovable Akshat in the popular show Kahiin Toh Hoga, is facing the very same dilemma these days. The actor is portraying the character of Sagar in Sangam which has been on air for a month now, but he still gets recognised as Akshat at times. "It's great to feel that I left a mark in that show. I can't deny that I'm where I am because of Kahiin... May be it's just been a month that Sangam started, so it will take time for the audience to accept me as Sagar," he says. Of course there have been some encouraging moments. "Recently, I was in Bandra with some friends when a little girl walked up to me and asked if I'm Sagar. These things encourage me to work harder," he smiles. Chaitanya, who portrays a calm, composed and mature guy in this show, is quite happy with the response the show is receiving. "We went to promote the show to Meerut and Chandigarh recently and got an idea of how well the show is doing. I think people are getting tired of saas-bahu shows and this romantic story is a welcome change," he feels. Apart from that, Chaitanya has also finished shooting for a weekly show called Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se which hasn't gone on air yet. "The channel is looking for the right slot," he explains. Considering the way people had linked Chaitanya to co-star Surveen Chawla in Kahiin..., because of their on-screen chemistry, he's just scared of one thing these days. "The rumours about Surveen and me were pushed too far considering there was nothing like that between us. Now I just hope people don't link me with Jennifer (his co-star in Sangam)!" he laughs. So is there anything happening in his personal life? "Nothing's happening currently. But yes, I am looking for that someone special," he adds with a smile. |
