But the same old me.

Mechanical engineering was dream and here I was living it.
Being the most prestigious college in India, FITE had strict rules.
No smoking. No drinking. No littering. No noise. No ragging.
Being a mischevious girl like I always was I soon had made friends with equally fun loving people. One day I decided to make some bakras of our classmates.
"But Sanyu, you know ragging is a punishable offence." My friend Kaustuki tried explaining me.
"Chill yaar! Who is ragging? I'm just having some fun. And that too with our classmates. It's not like I'm targeting any fresher, I can't because we ourselves are freshers but hey we engineers do need fun times yaar!"
"Just be careful with your pranks haan...We don't want anyone getting hurt."
"Nor do I. Just wait and watch."
After making our classmates dance, sing and run away scared, all in good humor I saw the one I was intrigued with.
He had a distinct style. Distinct swagger. He was practically a genius. But lonely.
And he had also rubbed me the wrong way.
He was late in getting admission but like the saying goes, 'He came, he saw, he conquered.' It went aptly with him. Before he came I was content in being the only person ready with answers to the questions asked by the professors. But he just had to ruin it.
One of our professor had a habit of writing questions on the common notice board for students to try solving it. One such day I was turning around the corner when I saw a person bent scribbling something on the board. I had already solved the question and signed my name. Before I could reach him he left. As I turned to see what he written it made me see red.
He had divided the board in half and solved the sum in half the steps and had written a Farzi Engineer' underneath my name. That gall of him! His name I read was Randhir Singh Shekhawat.
FITE rank no. 1. The person who had beat me by a mere 1 mark.
Since then it was a war between us.
And today I had the perfect opportunity to tease him. Asking Parth and Jiggy to video record it I stood up.
As he walked oblivious to the world I took my position. Taking a water balloon I took a perfect aim and
SPLASH!
There he stood rigid with his back to me and looked around with murderous eyes searching for the culprit.
"Tera dhyan kidhar hai
Ye tera hero idhar hai
PALAT..."
I whistled and said.
He turned around and glared at me. I just smiled and waved him. I could never hold grudges in my life and just thought why not be friends.
He just raised a brow and kept looking quizzically.
I sighed and went to him.
"Hey it was just a joke. Chill yaar! Hi, I'm Sanyukta." I put forward my hand for a handshake.
He kept looking at me and then clasped my hand in his.
"Hi, Randhir."
And that was the beginning of our friendship.
Soon we were a team. We did our assignments together. Attended lectures together and even submitted our projects together.
We were the talk of the college. If people spotted me or him they would immediately look around for the other. And asked us about each other when the other was not there.
"Arre aaj Randhir bhai nahi aaye, kya hua Sanyukta?"
"Arre aaj Sanyu nahi dikhai de rahi. Kahan hai wo Randhir?"
Soon I realized I had developed feelings for him. But I was scared to lose the one best friend I had found and decided to keep my mouth shut. It was all going well until one day it crashed.
He confided in me that he had a crush on this girl who was oblivious of his feelings and had decided to come clean with her.
Feeling something break in me I tried smiling.
"Oh..nice. I mean congratulations dude! Who is this girl? Kisko phasaya?"
"Abhi kis cheez ka congratulations? Usko batane to de. And jab tak ye nahi hota tujhe uska naam nahi bataunga. Jinx ho gaya toh?"
I managed a smile and said, "Toh kab bata raha hai usko?"
"Kuch dino mein uska birthday hai. Ussi din bataunga."
"Achcha gift de raha hai usko."
"Thanks re. I knew it. Sirf tu hi mujhe samajhti hai."
Seeing him happy and obviously so in love I decided to be the best friend he counted on and made it a mission to make his surprise for her special. And kept praying she'd accept it.
He had changed a lot over the course of time and become open and friendly with all. He'd often joke around and help me in my pranks. Since every professor liked us they never had a problem with our pranks. I didn't want him to go back to his own shell.
"Uska favourite colour kya hai?"
"Umm..Red hoga. Chicks dig red colour. All that love wala red and crap."
I gaped at him.
"Dude! You like her since a long time right? Uska favourite colour nahi pata?"
"Ugh...Tera kya hai?"
"Usse kya farak padta hai?"
"Bata na...Ek idea mil jaegi."
"Mujhe white pasand hai."
"Hunh...Vidhva ka color."
"Aee! Mind it. White symbolizes purity."
"Sorry maate! Naari suraksha sanghatna ki president."
"Chal chod diya. Tu bhi kya yaad rakhega."
He smiled mischeviously and burst out laughing.
"Tu na Sanyu, 1 piece hai duniya ki."
"Chal jaa. Uske pasand ke phool le ja and propose kar."
"Tu nahi aa rahi?"
"Main kyun aaun?"
"Arre meri himmat badhane ke liye."
"Tu kisi war par nahi jaa raha."
"Moral support yaar."
"Chal jaa nautanki."
"Chal theek hai. Bye."
"Bye."
I stood watching as he went away happily. He'd forgotten my birthday.
"Gadbad ho gai."
"Kya hua?"
"Wo pahunchi hi nahi."
"WHAT?"
"Iss liye bol raha tha tu bhi aa. Moral support deti tu. Mujhe sms bhi nahi karna padta."
"Kanjoos. Har baat par tujhe main hi chahiye kya? Hum Saath Saath hain ka prem na ban."
...
"Dude reply!"
...
Ugh...feeling agitated and mentally cursing that girl I went to the place Randhir was supposed to meet her.
He stood there sulkily looking out of the window waiting for her.
"Hey stud. Aisi rondhu shakal kyun banai hai?"
"Thank God Sanyu tu aa gai. Chal meri madad kar." His brightened like a sun.
"Ab kis cheez mein karun?"
"Main apna proposal enact karunga tu bas haan bolna."
My heart dropped at that.
"Pagal hai kya? Who aa gai toh?"
"Tu bas haan bol." He said in his strict tone.
"Tu Sanyukta hai ki nai?"
"Of course dumbo."
"Say yes."
"Yes..master." I teased.
He rolled his eyes.
"Tera favourite colour white hai ya nahi?"
"Yes."
"Mechanical engineer banna tera dream hai ya nahi?"
"Yes."
"Tu exams ke liye padh rahi hai ya nahi?"
I raised my brow at this and said
"Yes."
"Tera favourite khana Indian cuisine mein se kuch bhi hai ya nahi?"
"Yesss."
I got bored and sat down at one of the booths.
"Tujhe cheese pasand hai ya nahi?"
"Yes."
"Tujhe pizza se pyaar hai ya nahi?"
"Yes"
"Tujhe mujhse pyaar hai ya nahi?"
"Yes...I...I mean as a friend."
"Of course."
"Mujhe late ho raha hai."
"Chup chap baith aur sun. This is how I'll propose her." Randhir continued
"I have loved you since the day I laid my eyes on you. I wanted to be the one. The different one for you. I did everything under the sun to get your attention. You never noticed but I am possessive of you. I dominate you. I try to be the only person you think about. I don't say a lot but...
Will you be my girlfriend Farzi?"
"Farzi nahi apni girlfriend ka naam le."
"Okay, will you be my girlfriend Sanyukta?"
"This is not funny Randhir." Saying so I turned to go.
"Tera dhyaan kidhar hai
Ye tera hero idhar hai
PALAT!"
I stopped. Stunned I turned to see him smiling mischeviously.
"Hey it wasn't a joke. Hi I'm your boyfriend Randhir."
Saying so he stuck his hand out for a handshake.
He said the same thing I had said to him when we first met. Just edited it a bit.
Involuntarily I put my hand in his.
Pulling me closer he said.
"What's your answer Farzi?"
"Yes." I whispered.
Hearing whoops of congratulations and claps I turned to see our friends surrounding us and Parth and Jiggy recording it.
"You are and will always be mine Sanyukta."
Randhir said in my ears.
"Happy birthday."
And that was the best surprise I ever got.

How was it? I'm so obsessed with Sandhir that inspite of having my exams from tomorrow I'm writing this.
