Part 3

Downstairs, Urmila first noticed how Madhu and Kokila were sitting close together and whispering but stopped when she came near. She pretended she didn't notice and made a mental note to keep an eye on both of them. Something is going on...and Kokila has been acting weird. She smiled at both of them and went to sit with a visibly shaken Hetal. After talking to her a while, Hetal decided to turn in.

Instead of going to her room, Hetal walked into Ahems room. She walked up to a sleeping Gopi and kissed her on the forehead. "Gopi, whatever you are going through right now, please share it with us". We are your family. And we will help you through this, but please, get well soon" She noticed that Gopi was no longer restrained and looked questioningly at Ahem. Suddenly, Gopi opened her eyes and looked at her Kaki. Meera went to the door and kept watch. Kaki, I am so so sorry about what I did but I didn't have a choice. My mind was a blank and I couldn't think of how to inform you all about what was happening"! I also didn't know if you would believe me", she said softly. Ahem looked at Gopi as she said this. He knew he had no one to blame because he has never supported her in anything in the past. And since this was his mom in question, or someone he thought was his mom, he couldn't blame her for thinking she wouldn't believe her. But not this time. This time, he was determined not to make the same mistake. This time he would give her all the help she needed. This time, he would be the husband that she deserved. He turned to Hetal and asked her to sit down. He explained that Gopi had regained consciousness a few hours ago and she finally explained the reason for her behaviour. Hetal was furious and was about to storm downstairs to confront the witch but was stopped by Vidya.

She explained that it was best that no one else knew what was going on. It was now their time to turn the tables on the ones who have harmed their family. They would have to find a way to rescue Daadi. "Don't worry Papa, Daadi, we will make sure Maa doesn't get hurt again. And don't forget, we have 2 kalakari queens on our side! Referring to Meera and Urmila Nani. They laughed softly. They all had a smile on their faces, the first after what seemed a long time. Ahem looked at Gopi and joked, "Gopi, why do you like to live dangerously? After this, can you promise we will lead a normal life? I am getting too old for all this excitement". Gopi looked at him and retorted," Well, I married you didn't I? How can life be normal after that?" He took her hand and squeezed it, I am glad you are ok. They both looked at each other, and for a while, both were transported into a world, that only belonged to them both. Meera cleared her throat, and brought them back down to earth. Jigar looked mischievously at Meera and Vidya and proceeded to tease his bhai and bhabi." "You both can get back to your lovey dovey behaviour soon but now we need a plan to deal with some villains, so lets get down to it! Ahem and Gopi looked on in mock annoyance at the rest then laughed. "Yes, we do need a plan".

In the living room, Kokila was getting fidgety as she saw Urmila was not budging from her seat. She kept scratching her face and was clearly uncomfortable. Urmila asked, "Are you ok, Koki, is there something wrong with your face? Why are you scratching so much?" Kokila mumbled something about dried skin. Madhu nudged her and whispered to her. This interaction between them did not escape Urmila's eyes. She too, once upon a time, had tried to cause problems for Gopi and she knew a troublemaker when she saw one. However, she pretended not to notice, and continued acting normally, babbling away about random topics, clearly annoying Kokila and Madhu even more. Soon after, Kokila stopped Urmilas chatter, turned to her and asked her in an angry tone, "Didn't I say you were not to come back to this house while Meera and Vidya were at the Suryavanshi place? So why are you still here?

Koki, Meera and Vidya wanted to see Gopi so we came". Why didn't you tell us that Gopi was in such trouble?' We would have come and stayed and helped look after her". And with a slight smile, which went unnoticed by Madhu and Kokila, she said, now that they have seen their mum like this, they will not want to leave until she is well.' Urmila watched their reactions closely and saw that Kokila and Madhu, both seemed to pale at her statement. This is strange, she thought. From Madhu, I would expect nothing less as she does seem to want to hurt Gopi, but Kokila..?" Is she being controlled by Madhu? I need to talk to the rest! And fast! Whatever that is happening now, I have a feeling Gaura and Madhu are involved, and directly or indirectly, so is Koki.

Urmila took her leave saying that she wanted to check in on Gopi. Madhu and Kokila followed suit. Urmila messaged Meera and Vidya that Madhu was on her way up. Upon receiving Urmilas warning, they restrained Gopi again. Gopi on her part, put on her angry face again and started struggling against her bonds, while the rest pretended to look sad.

Once they got to the room, Kokila and Madhu went up to Gopi and pretended to be concerned. Gopi glared at them and screamed at PL, you are NOT my maaji!! Don't touch me!! I will kill you!! "With a sad face, Kokila turned to Madhu and said, see Madhuben, you see what she is saying to me? And shed crocodile tears. Urmila went up to Kokila and pacified her, reaching out to wipe her tears. As she wiped Kokila's face, she looked puzzled. Kokila pushed Urmilas hand away, making the excuse that Urmila might catch the itch she is having. The warning bells started ringing in Urmila's head. Madhu stroked Gopi's head and tried to soothe her. Gopi dikhra, what are you saying? Don't worry, we will make sure you get well soon and everything will be ok!" Jigar, Ahem and Hetal glared at the fake Kokila, and whose name they now knew to be Premlatha. Her actions disgusted them. It took all their self-control to not let their emotions show.

Pl's mind was turning. She needed to get Gopi alone. Things were getting difficult now with the entrance of Meera, Vidya and Urmila. Ahem, and the rest were easy to handle, but Urmila and the girls were not. She had to think of something and fast, but what?? Madhu, too, was thinking the same thing. There was no way she would allow Gopi to get any peace. At any cost, Gopi had to pay!! They needed to meet with Gaura soon.

Ahem spoke up and said, Kaki, Mom, Sasuma, why don't you go and sleep. I will make sure Gopi doesn't hurt herself. Kokila and Madhu yawned. Yes, I think we better retire too. "Gopi, I hope you feel better tomorrow", Kokila bent down to kiss Gopi on her forehead, but Gopi headbutted her. "Ahhh!" Gopi Vau! Ahem shouted. "Gopi!" and held her down. "Mum, you better go, she might hurt you! And I can't bear to see that happen" Kokila looked at him, with tears in her eyes, she said, I will go now. Please look after her.

Madhu turned to Gopi and stroked her cheek. "Get well soon, Radh..she stopped herself and said Gopi". Hetal looked up and looked at Ahem, mouthed "Radha?" Gopi didn't notice and wanted to hug her mum and tell her she was alright. She was about to do so but Urmila stepped in and told Madhu her daughter Gopi would be fine. Madhu glared at Urmila and left the room. Meera stood at the door to make sure no one was lurking around. Hetal noticed Urmila's troubled face and asked her what happened? Urmila replied, "I don't know why, but I feel Koki is involved in this somehow". They realized she wasn't around when Gopi told them the real situation, and filled her in on the details. Urmila smiled. I knew Koki will never do this to Gopi." "But..she stopped and looked at Gopi."But what" Hetal asked. Gopi, I think your mother is involved too. "Gopi protested, no Mamiji, she will never do that to me" "She loves me, I am her daughter"! Urmila looked at her and said sadly "Gopi, I too, once pretended to love you, but was always plotting against you, so believe me when I say I know the signs". Jigar too voiced his suspicions. "Bhabi, she called you Radha!" Gopi looked at him and said sadly, "She probably misses Radha but that doesn't mean she will hurt me. How I wish I could tell her I was ok! "Frankly, Gopi, Ahem added, "I don't quite trust your mother either" Urmila held Gopis face and Gopi look at her "Gopi, promise me you will do no such thing, at least not now". "Gopi, we trusted you when you told us that the one here is not Kokila, now, I need you and everyone here to trust me on this. Please. Will you do that?" We can't say much here, walls have ears. If we want to rescue your maaji, you need to make this promise!" That did the trick. I promise, I won't say a word and I will continue this drama of acting mad. But, if I do anything to hurt any of you, I apologize in advance. Ahem said "Next time you decide to bite me, please do it softly? You really hurt my hand the last time! He grinned at his wife's discomfort. Hetal added, "Please do not pour liquids on my head either..do you know how long it took me to dry my hair? Hetal smiled at Gopi and said, I better go and sleep now. They will be wondering why we are still here. We have to be careful. As much as we are watching their movements, I am sure they are watching ours. With that, she walked away, followed by Jigar. Midway, she stopped and turned back. Meera, Vidya, I am glad you are here. Your presence will be a great comfort to your mum. "Urmila, Chirag is out of town, would you like to sleep in my room?" Urmila nodded and left with Hetal. "Much as I hate to say this, don't you girls need to go back to the Suryavanshi house?" Not today. We are staying here with Maa. He closed and locked the door and untied Gopi. Meera said to him, "I'm sorry dad, looks like you will be sleeping on the floor today" Ahem hugged his daughters and they all got ready for bed.

Part 4

PL's skin was itching badly as she had to wear it for much longer today. She had to wait just a little bit longer before she could remove the mask. "Curse that Gopi!" "Curse her daughters"! "Curse every single one of the modis!!" "Curse that Urmila". At the thought of Meera and Urmila, her heart began to pound. She opened the door slightly and looked at Ahems room. The lights were out. She tiptoed to the door and as she put her ear to the door, out came Urmila. "Koki, what are you doing outside Ahem's room so late? She said loudly. PL stuttered. "I was just making sure that Gopi wasn't hurting my son! He really shouldn't be sleeping in that room with her. You saw what she did to me." Ahem, opened the door. "Mom, you? What is wrong?" "I...Gopi..." Urmila jumped in and said, "She wanted to make sure you were alright, that is all. There Koki, see, Gopi is asleep peacefully ad furthermore, Meera and Vidya are there to help Ahem if there was a problem so you should go sleep. Everything will be alright". Now go and sleep. If you can't sleep, I can keep you company. We can catch up on old times. PL said quickly, "no..no..it is ok. I am very tired and would like to sleep now. Jai Shree Krishna, Urmila" Jai Shree Krishna, Koki.

PL grumbled as she stomped around in her room. She pulled off her mask and proceeded to wash her face. "Ahh, she breathed a sigh of relief as her real skin got a chance to breathe. If not for the fact that the deal was to keep Kokila alive, I would have killed her off already! But Gopi doesn't know that, with an evil smile. Damn that Gaura! "Speaking of which, we need to talk". As she picked up her phone to call Gaura, she heard a knock on her door. It is me, Madhu. Let me in quickly". She threw a towel over her face just in case and opened the door. In came Madhu.

"Why are you here?? What if they notice?" Madhu replied, "The modis will never notice anything, don't you worry. They are blind and deaf to most things. They couldn't even tell that you are not the real Kokila and that I am the one here creating problems for them here before you came so don't fret. But Meera and Urmila, they are a different story. We need to careful with them around. But even they will never suspect us of trying to hurt the modis. They have a lot of faith in Kokila. As for me, I am Gopi's mum, so why would I hurt her, right?" Her face took on a sinister scowl as she said "I want Gopi to suffer more. Her suffering now is not enough. She needs to die slowly and painfully, like my poor Radha."

3 shadows lurked outside the room of the 2 conspirators, listening to every word.

Part 5

Meera and Vidya both woke up the next morning and saw Gopi standing near the window with Ahem, both deep in thought. They went up to their parents and gave them a hug but said nothing. Meera pointed to the door and then to the bed. With a heavy heart, they knew she had to be restrained again, and go back to playing the mad role. Gopi smiled at them to make them feel better and gestured to them to show that she was ok. She lay down and allowed herself to be tied up again.

Ahem opened the door and immediately saw PL and Madhu at the door. They rushed in and asked how Gopi was and whether they were hurt. On seeing PL and Madhu, Gopi again started behaving violently. In mock shock, Ahem said to them,"I think it is best that you don't see Gopi for now. Her condition seems to get worse when you are here. She wasn't violent like this with only us around! You want to see her well don't you?" PL tried to get near Gopi but Meera intervened. "Daadi, please, lets go down. What will we do if you get hurt?" If Maa gets to know she hurt you, she will never forgive herself or us for not keeping you away from her!" Meera linked her arm through PL's and proceeded to pull her away from Gopi. "Mom, please listen to Meera". Once she is better, you can spend as much time as you want with her". Internally he added, not with you, but my real Mom". "You too, Sasuma. Gopi loves you and would never want to hurt you so you better go down too". Madhu and PL were left with no choice but to obey. Meera, Vidya, Urmila and Hetal served them breakfast. After they left the room, Ahem made a call. They needed all the help they could get.

PL and Madhu, meanwhile, were stewing inside, but were unable to show their anger. For some reason, someone was always with Gopi or with them. They hardly had any opportunities to get Gopi alone. "Are we being watched?" thought PL. "Impossible, my brains are more than a match for the modis. This is just their concern for Kokilas and Madhus safety. At least, we know that they think that Gopi is a danger. I will have to get her alone. On her next violent attack, I will make sure Ahem sends her to the asylum. And there, I will get her teach her a lesson she will never forget.

Part 6

Back at the Suryavanshi house, Gaura was pacing up and down. Her servants were keeping out of her way as she was more irritable than usual. She called a number on the phone and was visibly pissed as she was not getting through. "This Meera and Vidya! Do they think this is a hotel, to come and go as they please! She rang Meera and finally got through. Even before Meera could say a word, she started screaming at her. Why are you and Vidya not back yet! What is the need to stay there?" Meera smiled and disconnected the call. Vidya, will you help me in the kitchen? Vidya raised her eyebrows and saw Meera wink at her. They both walked to the kitchen, while Urmila kept PL and Madhu busy. She told Vidya,"The mad woman will be calling you soon. I suggest you don't answer. She wants to play, we will play with her too. Vidya said, "AI don't even have my phone with me now so she can call all she wants." Di, I am so glad you are on our side. With a smug smile, Meera said, "I know". The sisters shared a hug.

Back at the dining table, PL looked up and said, Mota Bhabi, I will be going to the temple in a while to pray for Gopi Vau. So please don't prepare lunch for me. "That is a good idea Kokila, I will come with you too!" No Mota Bhabi! I mean, you are busy at home and with Gopi down, you will have to prepare food for Ahem and Jigar so it is best that I go. I will bring Madhu for company. Hetal agreed. All of a sudden, Jigar came up and said," Kaki, are you going to the temple?" I will come too!" I want to pray for Bhabi as well. PL and Madhu were stumped. How were they going to meet Gaura like this? Jigar added, "Furthermore, you have always told me to pray hard for my loved ones, so I will go with you. He didn't give them a chance to answer and said, I will get ready in 5 minutes. 5 min later, Jigar came down and asked if they were ready to go. Reluctantly, they got up and went with Jigar.

After they left, Urmila and Hetal winked at each other. "It is lucky we overheard their conversation last night, about their meeting with Gaura. That was a pure stroke of luck. Hopefully, this luck continues." said Urmila. Our Kanhaji will never forsake this family, Hetal said gratefully. Now, we wait.

Jigar took a less crowded route to the temple claiming it was faster. The drive to the temple was silent. Both ladies were thinking of how to get away from Jigar. They informed Gaura on the change of plans as there was no way they could meet with him around. Suddenly, Jigar's stopped the car. Looking out, they saw 2 men in full faced helmets on motorbikes in front. They revved their engines and sped towards their car, screeching to a halt just centimetres away. As Jigar, PL and Madhu watched in horror, the 2 men got off their bikes, and pulled out a rod each from behind them. They each took one side of the car, and smashed in the windows. Jigar begged the men to leave them alone but the taller one told him if he didn't shut up, they would burn the car with all of them in it. The shorter of the two reached in and opened the door. He pulled out a screaming PL, and pushed her down on the ground. "All of you, give me EVERYTHING you have, and if you hide even one item from me, this will be the last day you breathe, understand?" The other man, dragged Madhu, who had tried to hide on the floor of the car, and Jigar and pushed them both down beside PL. Jigar again pleaded with the men not to harm the ladies and begged PL and Madhu to obey the men. PL and Madhu were terrified for their lives and gave up their bags. They were thinking that this had to be the worst day of their lives. The two men slit the tyres of the car before riding away. "Those men took even my phone! Kaki do you have yours with you? "Our money, our phones, everything is gone! Now what do we do" they lamented. This was exactly what Jigar wanted to hear. His phone vibrated. He pretended to go behind to take a look at the tyres and read the message. He smiled. "We better not stay around here for too long. Let us walk, there should be a shop somewhere along the roads from where we can make a phone call.
