How is that acceptable? That's incest and forcing someone to marry anyone against their wish, is just plain wrong.
Reminds me of the Royal Family here who are basically each other's cousins. Minus Kate.

Yes, you are right. Mammu is mother's brother. Even I am saying the same thing that it is not acceptable. That is happening in India especially in rural areas. Forcing someone in this marriage is not only wrong it is also illegal. But still people do that. But most of them don't file a case on their parents.

God I didn't know that 😲
Well I obviously knew lots of illegal things happen like child marriages. This also happens in parts of UK actually
I would do something about it for sure, one day hopefully. It's not fair man.
There's this rule from where I come from that if you marry outside caste, you must pay a fine even if you are living outside of India. What 🤬
My cousins haven't paid a fine and the group who want fines, couldn't do anything cus what they're doing is illegal 😆 Serves them right.

OMG, I didn't know that child marriages happen in UK as well. I was under the impression that in Western countries there is no concept of arranged marriage. Can you please tell me about the group in UK?

@Sutapasima @Sharoon
It's not a group as such, but child marriages do happen here as well as weird as it sounds. Not as high in number as compared to other countries for obvious reasons. What group were you guys asking for btw?

You had mentioned the group that fines could not do anything. I mean that. Is there any concept of arranged marriage in UK?

Just asked my mum, she said its a bunch of people called Patels (not referring to all Patels obviously) who 'censor' their society and make sure no one breaks any rules. It's around Diu, small town. Basically if you want to marry outside of caste, then you pay them fine.
I think one of my aunt did when her son married a Christian girl, God knows why she didn't just ignore.
And there isn't a concept of arranged marriage in the UK, it used to be but very very long time ago like in the Tudor era.
Nonetheless, there are cases of forced marriages constantly coming up even now, in small number but they do happen. Mostly to British Muslim girls.

Thanks for the info. Haryana is ruled by khap panchayat and people residing there should abide to the rules that is set. If they marry against the wishes of their parents, they will be killed. In their terminology, it is honor killing.
