Yes why daughter's should neglect their parents, why daughter's are not responsible to safe their family prestage, why daughter's are shown very careless and do what ever they want and whom ever they marry though he was her fathers age, yack our daily soaps should change they should stop this nonsense and should show careing and responsible daughter, example gopi is a very good daughter in law but she is not a responsible daughter yes gopi mother will stay in her brother house so that means daughter is not responsible for their parents needs, i would felt happy if gopi bring her mother with her, and even meera is not good daughter what is this, daughter means using parents and throwing them out no our serials should show daughter should also have responsibility for her parents etc in every serial they show son should be responsible to his parents then what about girl parents who don't have son's who will look over them in ALL IS WELL MOVIE also they given a message that son should be responsible and loving towards parents then what about girl parents, now a days women's are also equally growing in every field so please treat parents equally don't neglect girl parents because they too deserve every thing

Sounds like your in the Stone Age a bit lol! I love rebellious Meera! All this izzat stuff keeps South Asia in the Stone Age! If all shows had a good daughters and sons how boring would that be - just the same if this was the case in real life!

In the real life most of the guys are hypocrites. They want their sisters & daughters to respect elders & even go to the extent of pushing them into marriage according to parents choice but they themselves don't do that.

Let the females get inspiration from Meera.

The reason women are the way they are in India and Pakistan is because they are raised to be submissive. Any rebellion is quashed by the family and society. Guys can pretty much do what they like however because the male is superior! Girl babies are killed because of this attitude. The female has to bow down to her parents regardless of what decisions they make regarding her life. No independent thought is allowed. That's why I love Meera - she has an independent, rebellious and fearless streak to be admired. You go Meera! You are an inspiration to the women of India!

Yes Meera is independent and rebellious but in a wrong way. Is there anything positive about Meera which did good for her or for anyone. She is independent in doing only silly and wrong things. The only good deed of Meera has been when she saved Gopi from fire.

Yes women should be independent but not like Meera. Independence also comes with responsibility which is lacking in Meera. Meera is a bad example.

Yes, exactly! It's kind of concerning how people think Meera should be a role model to all females.

A woman should have individuality yes, but she shouldn't be rude and disrespectful to her elders! Not just women, this applies to men as well. Your parents bring you up since infancy. They sacrifice a lot for your happiness. NOTHING gives a child the right to disrespect their parents when they are older, in the name of individuality and independence. A child should always respect their parents, even when they are older. A parent is always wiser than the child due to their advanced age and wisdom. Rebelliousness and disrespect are not positive traits. Nobody likes a rude bratty child, in ANY country.

With age comes responsibility. If a person, man or woman, wants independence then they should earn it through their actions. They shouldn't expect their parents to give them independence just because they're older. They should prove that they can make responsible choices and lead their life in a dignified way.

There is nothing refreshing about Meera. If Gopi is one extreme, Meera is another extreme. Nobody should be as submissive as Gopi, but neither should anybody be as rude and rebellious as Meera. Such behavior as Meera's doesn't bring happiness to anyone. She is a rude, selfish girl who doesn't care about anyone but herself. Extreme selflessness and extreme selfishness are both dangerous. If Gopi symbolizes extreme selflessness, Meera symbolizes extreme selfishness.

Television should show a woman who is intelligent and independent but at the same time respectful and obedient to her elders. I am starting to hate seeing all these female characters who abuse their parents and do what they want in the name of "modern woman". Such girls are not liked anywhere, not even in western countries. They're brats, nothing else.
