How did Rashi get locked?

The same theme has been in many serials, Aaap ki antaraa, Veera, now even in Saathiya. even the new Karan serial.

Anyways that is not the question I am asking here. I want to know if Meera locked Rashi in or Paridhi unknowingly locked Rashi in.
