Friends, I rely a lot on English subtitles to understand the dialogue and want to be sure - was Ahem maybe having a moment of jealousy/suspiciousness/possessiveness when he asked Gopi about who she rode scooters with at the hostel? đ˛
Just this quiet tension as he fumbled for the words..."Teachers, matlab...shikshik?" (glances at Gopi, talking over his shoulder) "...Matlab woh teacher kya kehta hai, shikshik yah (eyes back to the road)...shikshika (glance back at Gopi)?"
The English subtitles said "Teachers, as in professors?"..."Professor, male or...female?"
What do you think? Are the subtitles right, that Ahem was clarifying whether Gopi's helpful colleagues were male or female?
And...why might he want to do that? đ
