I guess the title of this show, "Saath Nibhana Saathiya" takes on a new meaning today. Giaa was terminated by Star Plus for violating her contract by partaking in JDJ. Ardent fans of the show on IF are distressed and in shock about the abrupt nature of her termination. It is time for us to come together as IF Saathiyans to support one another.
In the past few months, I have seen at least an article or two wherein Giaa expressed her desire to seek roles that broadens her breadth as an actress. It was evident from her statements that her current role did not provide her with the career growth she desired. Sure, we all loved her in her role, Giaa portrayed Gopi brilliantly. We must accept and respect her desire to explore the art and scope of acting. Giaa has great potential to spread her wings as versatile artist. ๐๐ผ
Now as far as Star Plus is concerned, this is not the first time a major shake-up has happened; nor will it be the last. Be it a software giant that lays off hundreds and thousands of workers every year, the current battle between Air India and its pilots, or an entertainment industry that screws the "small fry" like screen writers and editors, and the list goes on...these atrocities happen all around us every day. ๐ Should we sit back and accept this? No way! We have a voice! Reach out to the TPTB and let them know how you feel about this situation. Be constructive in your criticism. IMHO boycotting SNS isn't the answer. Running the show out of production will only result in loss in jobs for those behind the scenes from writers, camera men, makeup artists, extras, assistants, spot boys/girls, etc.
I am happy for Giaa for the acting opportunities she will now have (and many fans to support her endeavors) despite the unpleasant way in which she was terminated from Star Plus. Perhaps, she did not have the "mamma," "chacha," "godfather/godmother" to pull strings for her, a la Raagini Khanna, when she partook in JDJ. Or she did not read the fine print when she signed the dotted line to play the role of Gopi on SNS. At this stage, everything is speculation. We do not know (and may not ever know) who is at fault here. But there is a lesson for all of us in this publicized termination of a great actress - READ THE FINE PRINT when you are required to sign ANY legal papers. If you don't know what the legal mambo-jumbo means, hire a lawyer to explain it to you...it is worth investment in knowing your legal rights.
Now, back to Giaa...thank you for the stellar performance as Gopi bahu. Your contribution to SNS and its success will forever be etched in the fans' hearts. And I speak for fellow fans in saying that we wish you good luck in all your future endeavors.
To my fellow IF Saathiyans...big hugs from your big sis (me!). It's going to be ok...I promise. Life goes on...we will always be there for one another...support one another. I am touched by the exchange of words of support and kindness professed by IF Saathiyans. "Saath Nibhana Saathiya" took on a true meaning today with IF Saathiyans as the protagonists!
