Harini we have to remember that sane rational human beings are aware of certain morals and values. However sometimes something goes wrong. And a persons judgement is affected. You don't think in a normal manner anymore. This allow you to do and say things that you would not do under normal circumstances. Like people who commit suicide. Something in your head must not connect and allow you to over-rule the most basic human impulse of survival.

@bold - this line right here is so true. Just had the sad news yesterday that a 13 yr old blew his head off, and everyone said they saw no warning signs. No sane, rational, clear-minded person would do something like that.

I really liked your post. I do believe each of us has a breaking point, and sometimes the things one can bear is much less than another person. Anita has faced enormous challenges in her life and she must feel that everything she loves gets taken away from her. It has probably made her paranoid & I truly think she went temporarily insane after her breakdown.

She lost her parents, lost Ahem, whom clearly loved and then lost her fiance on the day of her wedding. These are significant losses and if any of us faced what she did, there is no telling how we would react. She has no one, and when she saw the kindness Ahem showed her in MM she rushed to the conclusion that he must still love me and therefore I will not let this chance of happiness slip through my fingers.

Is she crazy? - Yes
But can we on some level understand how she reached this point - Absolutely.

She has been dealt a cruel fate, all she wanted was love, but her constant rejection has led her to where she is today, her mind has broken from reality and she has become insane.

We need the men in the white coats to take her away.

@west. Awesome post! @poonam. It is easy to be judge jury and executioner. Much harder to question and seek answers and solutions.

Here her stress/mental factors should be taken into consideration, as otherwise she would not have fainted when she heard nilesh's dad break off the wedding, and wouldn't have had that period of amnesia. And yes meeting Ahem just day or so before her wedding will have added to her emotional issues.
And a nearer sane person in this situation would have gine for Ahem in a similar situation, whereas Anita went for the innocent wife(who happens to be the audienece's beloved Gopi).
Maybe we should all think about this situation when we say we don't know how well or not a person is in regard to mental health. Even we can never say how healthy we are mentally, not really.

And no not help in terms of What koki was offering like find a guy and get her married. But professional help. Like a psychiatrist.

Agree Ashwin.. She does need medical care.
Her acts are just abhorrent that is all. Her going over the edge and trying to harm Gopi with some screwed logic is proof of that fact.
That does not mean that I can take in what she did..
But I do pity her to some extent. But that is it.
Pain Ashwin and wishing a worse pain on another human being because one is insane.. I do not know how to look at that.. Maybe because it is difficult to fathom just what pushes a person off the edge..
I cannot believe that all she was looking was for love. If that is the case then she would not be so callous to people who surrounded her. Her character is confusing to me. The only thing I can agree is that she needs professional help and that is it.. 😊
Are school killings correct? No.. But why do people do it? It is difficult to understand.. It is the same here..😕 But the difference between that and what Anitha did was that these are split second happening..
Anitha plotted well. Made decisions. Stopped Rashi. Made sure Gopi was there in the kitchen.. Things that make it just too plotted.. Hence my confusion. This was not a sudden urge of madness but something that was there for longer..

So yeah.. definitely psychiatric treatment😕
