You are absolutely right. Gopi's silent treatment has made Ahemji be more vocal with her.

Not only he apologized to her for some thing that wasn't even a big deal, but he is now learning to praise her in front of the family. I loved it how he praised Gopi in front of Kokila at the singing competition and then again, he appreciated her theplas. We would never have seen Ahemji praising her let alone talking directly to her at the dining table. He has shed his shyness and is speaking his mind.
