In Ahem's case "had" only his mom as comparison and she is a chipu too as she wants every one to listen to her only.

That's a bit harsh to the actress rather than the character... I personally think she's quite good looking, I've seen her in another show and she was really good..

But to be honest before Gopi entered into Ahem's life, he was a different person.
The only thing that mattered to him was his mum, work, and status to an extent and he would just do what is practical and logical.
That's why when he found out Gopi was illiterate he was so angry he slapped her, why? Because of his status and because he couldn't imagine not marrying someone like him, who knows English, is modern, and follows his lifestyle.
That's where Anita comes into the picture. She was the perfect girl for him in the sense that she was literate, very modern and had the same lifestyle as him. He was probably thinking practically, and thought she was perfect because she was the same as him. But you see that's where he was wrong, because although we all come up with ideas of how we want our ideal husband/wife to be, in reality these things never matter, because love isn't logical.. And that's how he fell for Gopi, he isn't thinking practically anymore because the things he believed mattered actually don't, and he can't help but love Gopi.. Gopi has changed Ahem, he now reacts to things with a bit more emotion, with love.. It's so cute😳

I don't think he ever loved Anita because he didn't really fight against his mum when she said he can't marry Anita. But he did care about her, he wouldn't be a gentleman if he had just simply used her...
