Why doesn't Anita wear sindoor?

She was looking for her magalsutra which got lost, but sindoor is easy to find. Why isn't she asking for that?

They are so inconsistent. Probably anita is a modern gal who does not want to put sindoor and i dont think every married woman put s it. People in south india dont put sindoor.

That is what I was think tooo. I thought all Indian women wear sindoor... Can someone tell me why south indian women do not ... just curious.

I have no idea why they dont. They just dont. No woman in my family does. Its just mangalsutra bindi and the toe rings. even in a marriage ceremony the guy does not put it on the gal s head, not very sure about this .

Yes. In south Indian marriage ceremonies tying of the mangalsutra is the focal point. There is no concept of sindoor as such. Even young and unmarried girls in the south put kum kum in the parting of their hair...it is just like any other spot on the face. Wedding rituals differ widely across India.

Nobody in my family puts sindoor..bindi,mangalsutra and toe rings indicate a woman's marital status.

Not everyone follows the rules strictly...my mom and mil think that every married woman must sport a bindi and wear toe rings and mangalsutra...I don't follow it and wear it only while visiting them.
