As to your question, he knows how well she takes care of him in every sense of the word, without her he becomes an inanimate being. This was confirmed by him telling her of his new and different change in himself and his increased need to seek her since Holi day.

This jolt in his journey of love for his wife has been a shock to his system. What is interesting to watch is the process of how he will go about realising his love.

Yes it is unfair to leave the audience hanging however before things get better him, it may get even worse. We need to brace ourselves for Kokila's and Gopi's reaction and how he counteracts these.

This episode can leave one feeling in a state of despondency but it is not over yet. Treat it as a start to a few parts of a puzzle that will piece itself into a journey of self discovery to Ahem's love for his Gopi.
