two days after...
Rashi was getting ready to go downstairs and start breakfast. On the way down she was Gopi and asked her to stop as she wanted to talk to her. Gopi said jee Rashi ben. Rashi said voh Gopi, I just wanted to say I am sorry for that day. I don't know if you will believe me but I did come there because I felt bad about what mummy did to you. Gopi said Rashi ben, you should only concentrate on making devarji trust you again so you are also happy. Please I don't want to talk about anything else. And Gopi left from there. Gopi felt bad doing this to Rashi ben but she knew that she had to be strong and learn how to deal with people who just use you. Ahemji had talked to her endlessly about starting to recognize people. Gopi at first thought that Ahemji would be upset at her for not knowing all these things but he was calm and sweet and very understanding when he explained to her about how to read people and their real intentions. Gopi had by now forgotten Rashi ben and was smiling thinking about her and Ahemji. She felt like she was floating on a cloud. She couldn't come down even if she tried. Every night she and her Ahemji had spent showing each other their love for each other. Ahemji loved her and she loved him. She still at times found it hard to believe all this was happening to her. While she was walking to the mandir she heard the doorbell ring and she went to open it. And there like a nightmare being repeated stood her Mami.
At first Gopi got scared but then remembered her Ahemji's words. And she stood firm on her ground and said Mami, what are you doing here? Urmi was shocked to see Gopi in the house as Rashi had forgotten to mention it to her. So she started with Gopi...I came here because my daughter is a DIL of this house. I knew you are not as innocent as you want people to believe. You finally wormed your way into this house again, didn't you. Gopi said I will get Rashi ben for you and when she tried to leave Urmi said a few more words to dig her nails further into Gopi to assure pain. She said, what did you do Gopi? Did you sleep your way into this house again like you have been doing with another man. Gopi turned around and looked at her Mami square in the face and said Mami, I suggest you only talk about things you have proof of, not something you would be made a fool of later. And when Urmi was about to go closer to Gopi to threaten her she heard the voice that made her stop in her tracks. Koki calling Urmi and saying Urmila ben how nice to see you again. Please come in. Urmi with a little hesitation entered and said I came to see my daughter. Koki said you have every right Gopi vau, go get Rashi.
Now it was Koki's turn to have a few chosen words with Urmi. She walked up to Urmi ben and said please sit down. When Urmi was seated Koki went and sat next to her and said lets have a talk till Rashi comes. Koki then turned towards Urmi and said Urmila ben that day you were able to get your dirty claws into my Gopi vau. You see she is not cunning and unruly like you, so she could not answer you. So I am doing it for her. And with a smile Koki said Urmila ben my Gopi vau is the elder DIL of this house, so I suggest if you want your daughter to live here happily, then you better start putting a cork in your mouth. The way you just talked to my Gopi vau will be your last time you speak to her in that manner...understood. And also learn to respect every member of this family and above all else come visit your daughter and go back home to your life. Don't try and interfere in our family matters. And if you seem to have a problem with these rules please feel free to take your daughter with you. Have I made myself clear? Urmi gulped a big gulp and then nodded yes.
Rashi came and was listening to all this and was mad that her mother was made to feel like this, but she held her tongue. She made her presence known and with that Koki stood said her pleasantries and left the mother/daughter duo alone. Urmi started to blast Rashi saying why did you not tell me that gawar is back in the house? At least you could have warned me. I wouldn't have come here. Her manhoos face is the last face I wanted to see. Rashi explained to her mummy saying listen mummy I just want to live her peacefully and get everyones respect. And the only way for me to do it is to live in a straight forward fashion. And if I keep calling you, then you would come up with some kind of kalakari to ruin Gopi's and my happiness. Urmi said as long as Ahem has not excepted Gopi you still have a chance to kick her out. It means we are going to have to be a little smarter than before. Rashi was about to say something when she saw Ahemjiju and Jigar standing in the doorway. She was surprised and asked why are you back before lunch? Ahem looked at her and said we had a meeting and Jigar left the file at home so we came here to get it. Jigar looked at Rashi and Urmi and left to get the file without saying a word. Ahem decided to show Urmi just what Gopi means to him. He yells for Gopi who comes running and says why are you here. Ahem puts his hands around her shoulders and whispered I missed your smile. Gopi blushed and whispered Ahemji there are others in the room. Ahem pretended to see other people in the room but wanted to see Urmi's reaction and when he saw her jaw hit the floor he felt like he hit the jackpot. He smiled at Gopi and explained about the file. When Jigar came down Gopi asked if she could make tea for them and they both agreed for different reasons. Ahem to show Urmi his love for Gopi so she would think twice before calling her names of any kind. And for Jigar it was to see if he could figure out the dynamics of this mother/daughter. He wanted to see if he could see change in his wife. He felt sad when he didn't.
After they all had tea and were leaving, Ahem called Gopi to the door and asked her in her ear, are you ok? Gopi nodded yes and then whispered don't worry, I told her to not interfere in my life. Ahem looked at his wife in shock and then smiled and whispered I am very proud of you and BTW I love you like crazy. Gopi only could giggle and Ahem could not help it so he kissed her on the forehead and said see you later jaan. Gopi blushed that he kissed her in front of Rashi ben and Mami but then just smiled and went back to her work in the mandir. After they were left alone Rashi saw her mom's reaction and went to her and helped her shut her fallen jaw and said see mummy Gopi and Ahem jiju are already close. Now nothing can tear them apart. And mummy I don't want to do it either. Gopi is so happy now mummy. I have never seen her smile so much before. I used to think her small smile was all she could manage but these days her smile is so wide and beautiful that it made me realize she is truly happy. Urmi hit her daughters hand and said bus bus, you don't have to feel so happy for her. What has she done for you besides take away your happiness? Rashi knew her mom would never see Gopi in any other light except as a manhoos gawar. Rashi said you better go now mummy I have a lot of work to do. Urmi looked at Rashi with a concerned face and said hai hai are they working you to the bone dikra. Rashi said mummy will you let it go and just leave. Urmi left but not before reminding Rashi to keep in touch and let her know the happenings of this house and especially that gawar and her husband. Rashi just nodded out of frustration and left it at that. After she closed the doors she was talking to herself saying if I don't do what mummy wants then she will cut me out of her life...and if I don't do what Jigarji wants then I loose my husband. She folded her hands and looked towards the sky and pleadingly said Khanaji help me please...
After the meeting was over and Ahem and Jigar were driving back home Jigar spoke up and told his brother...bhai I think that you handled that situation at home this morning very nicely. I just wish I could trust Rashi as much as you trust Bhabhi. Ahem looked at Jigar and saw his anguish and said Jigar your day will also come...don't loose hope, ok. Jigar nodded and was in a thinking mode about what is the next thing he and Rashi should do to make their relationship work. He often wondered if Rashi thought about their relationship as much as he did. He had to let it go or he would never be able to move forward.
When they came home Ahem was told Gopi is sleeping as she had a headache so to be quite when he goes into the room. Ahem said I will finish some work and I promise to do it quietly. And he also told his mom to not send the tea as it would disturb Gopi and Koki agreed. When Ahem came into the room he saw Gopi sleeping and out of habit nowadays he locked the door as if to expect some hanky panky with his wife. When he came back out of the bathroom after changing clothes he found his wife sitting on the bed waiting for him. He went to her and said I thought you had a headache. Gopi smiled and said I did but I would prefer to be with you instead of sleeping. Ahem tried in vain to make her sleep but she was having none of it. She put her arms around her husband and said make love to me right now Ahemji. Ahem looked at her with surprise and said Gopi what if someone comes knocking? Gopi said I don't care, I just want to feel you all over me. Ahem couldn't resist her words and started kissing her passionately. Gopi held on to his neck and helped him lie down next to her. Ahem then broke the kiss and looked at his wife and said I think I created a love making monster. Gopi smiled at him and said are you complaining? Ahem smiled and said no way I like it. He went back to kissing his wife and before long they were naked and feeling each other all over. They made love and held each other and Ahem felt stupid and so he looked at Gopi and said I cannot believe I missed out on this for the first 15 months of our marriage. Gopi looked at him and said that is why we are having so much fun making up the time...and she smiled at him. Ahem was in awe of his wife and kissed her on the lips again and wanted to make love to her again but his eyes fell on the clock and realized they would be called for dinner in a few minutes and with sad faces they both got up and fixed the room and themselves. And when Gopi was done fixing her hair Ahem put his arms around his wife's waist from behind and said I like this kind of welcome. Gopi turned around in his arms and put her hand around his neck and said more to come tonite my love. And they kissed each other again before they heard the knock they were expecting. Ahem and Gopi went downstairs and had dinner with their family.
This was just a story to show the change of the atmosphere of the house.
