@Nafisa -Blossomsi agree to your analysis but i have a point to say this...but i feel anyways on the day of their Suhag raath, may be aham would have acepted her as his wife but when Anita called him and acused him for cheating her... his mind might have changed... and when Aham met Umang in jewellery shop first he asked him was how is anita and how she is... and on his birthday... he remembered anita how she wished him previous year... he had longing for anita as he kept looking at his mobile whether it rings.. so that he can hear anitas voice...he has anita and his photograph in his diary till now... and he stopped gopi to see the photograph when it was fallen accidently...he has killed his heart to marry gopi as his mother wished before marriage to gopi he has tried to convince kokila bout anita... but when he saw his mother broke down in tears... the idea stopped him from doing so...so i think he was guilty when he married gopi for cheating Anita... he was in depression at that time for loosing anita... but he knew it that if he marries his mothers choice he can keep her happy... he initially was ready to accept gopi as his wife...but the fact that necklace incident, and when he came to know that gopi is illetrate he lost his mind and slapped her for lying to them that she is an illetrate... and he made her to sleep... he was behaving as a husband to her,,, just to keep his mother happy...but inside he was not at all considered as his wife... from the begining...he has told her once... she is in this house just because of his mother so it is her duty to keep his mother mother happy...so i think deep down his heart he have kept love for Anita...since gopi was illetrate made him angry thaats it...but he would have accepted gopi if she would have educated... may be but deep down he loves anita even today... may be gopi has become his aadath now... he brought gopi back since naani came to visit after her he was ready to send her back to mama mami... it was kokila who kept gopi in modi bhavan... he might have helped gopi in studies and would have got his attention on her beauty... but it may last for few days as he himself has not realized it is love or what... even we are in confusion... his behaviour has changed little bit... as he needs everyones attension... since anita has left him a year back and never came back,... so he would accept gopi with no other choice as she is good at heart and he may love her...but his love to gopi will be justified once anita is back...if anita would have been bad than she would have tried many tricks to revenge on GoHem from past year instead of that she left India and kept herself away...so i dont think... Aham can hate anita... it may put him under dilemma for choosing between gopi aor anita...so who will win anita or gopi...?who does aham deserve...
Also a good explanation, that wedding day, the Suhaag Raath, when he was going to the bedroom Anita did call and put him in a bad temper, I think he even threw the phone away before entering the bedroom, also the day of his birthday he remembered Anita singing happy birthday sweetly, but that still goes back to comparison between the educated English speaking and confident Anita to his wife Gopi who had to look to Kokila for permission to wish him happy birthday and she made a right hash of wishing him too, as she couldn't pronounce the English words, so that birthday remembrance was a comparison between his ex-girlfriend and his wife, so perhaps he has thought about Anita after his marriage a few times, thinking it would have been so much easier if I was married to an educated girl like my ex-girlfriend, I wouldn't be embarrassed on my birthday in front my friends (remember also he had to cut minnie mouse cake), so he wouldn't be human if he didn't think how would be like if I had married Anita instead of the villager, who needs to be taught everything now after marriage. But that still brings me to my original point that the main problem with Gopi was that according to Aham she's a villager, Ghawar and not worthy to be a wife for him.
Consider if Gopi was educated like Anita was, she would sing happy birthday to him she would order the right cake, decorate the house correctly and not be fooled into decorating for kiddies birthday by Rashi, everything would have run smoothly for that party and why would Aham remember a phone call of Anita's the previous year on his birthday, they would be no need to. But he was miserable that day the party brought to his mind the long way Gopi has to go in order to be a good wife.
About meeting Umang in the jewellery shop anybody who meets your ex's brother somewhere after marriage you ask after you ex out of courtesy, you would be unfeeling if you don't enquire if that person is okay.
