Gopi Goes To School

As a part of a unique initiative, Star Plus, India's most popular entertainment channel is taking its lead protagonist Gopi of 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' fame to various cities across the country, with the message- "Go back to school; it's never too late to learn."

Gopi, who has mustered courage to begin school at the age of twenty, has been sharing her own experience in a number of interactive sessions, spread across various cities- Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Mumbai.

Her key message is: "It's never too late to learn, if Gopi can go to school, so can you: Gopi ki chaah, padhne ki raah."

On its part, Star Plus will sponsor the education of hundred children in the urban learning centers of Pratham.

Commenting on this initiative, Nitin Vaidya, Business Head, Hindi Channels, Star India said: "The drop-out rate of school children in India is alarmingly high. Almost 50% of children who join up in Class I drop out by Class VIII. This initiative of Star Plus intends to inspire children, who drop out of school, for one reason or another to get back to school."

Star Plus and Star India have constantly endeavored to engage audiences not just with socially responsible programming but also with activities to reach out to real people and transform lives. This initiative by STAR Plus further reiterates its brand promise, "Rishta Wahi, Soch Nayi".
