Shot-2

After her encounter with Kokila, Gopi locks herself in her room. She picks up the big teddy lying on her bed.

"Dekho ab itna obvious ho gaya hai ki' sab samaj lete hain' lekin tum' tum kabhi nahin samjoge' humesha duffer ke duffer hi rahoge'. Kitna intezaar kar waha rahe ho'ab mein raat tak apne aapko kaise sambhal paoungi??"

(It became so obvious now... everyone's able to understand.. but u..u'll never.. never understand.. will remain duffer always... For how long do i need to wait.. how am i going to control myself till evening)

Gopi poured her heart out to the teddy. She felt an unknown peace whenever she shared her thoughts with it because it was he who bought it for her and that made it so precious for her.

She placed it back and went to check on the preparations going on and then chatted with Kinjal and Kokila.

He came out of the meeting with a wide smile spread on his face. The toil he put in finally got its fruit. The contract was signed and Modi industries now reached the heights which he always dreamed to take it to.

Whole of his family would be extremely delighted to know the news and by family he included his parents as well as her parents' He loved them equally and also knew that he was the apple of their eyes.

Finally he's going to meet them after a long gap especially her. That reminded him of something and he ran over to his cabin quickly. He got seated in his chair and pulled out the drawer picking up the box and then switched it on. Her sweet voice brought a pleasant smile on his life.

"Dekho ab itna obvious ho gaya hai ki' sab samaj lete hain' lekin tum.. kabhi nahin samjoge' humesha duffer ke duffer hi rahoge' Kitna intezaar kar waha rahe ho'ab mein raat tak apne aapko kaise sambhal paoungi??"

He chuckled as he heard it. He could make out that Gopi searched for him when his parents arrived and got caught in the process. He felt elated to know that Gopi was waiting eagerly for him.

He patted himself on back for placing the microphone in the teddy that he presented her last when she left. It made him feel as if he was with her. Hearing her sharing her thoughts with it everyday thinking it was him made him feel very special'. It made her even more special for him'.

It was lunch time and whole of the family sat together at the table celebrating their togetherness after a long time. As Rashi and Jigar fought with each other over food others enjoyed the fight taking sides. Gopi smiled in between but the despair on her face couldn't be hidden from Kokila and Hetal and they exchanged a knowing smile.

Later as all of them assembled in the hall to discuss the preparations going on, Gopi sat in a corner uninterested. She felt the day was passing rather slowly than ever. She thought it was best to sleep for sometime to pass time and went to her room.

She tried to sleep but he resided everywhere even in her dreams. She sat up on the bed hugging the teddy and then pulled out the drawer beside her. She picked up a bag lying there. It was her priceless treasure''

It contained all the cards and all the gifts he presented her till today since her childhood. She smiled as her thoughts raced back to the golden old days.

It was lunch break and she got seated on a bench in the garden of the school, thinking of ways to find him. He always seemed like a busy bee to her'roaming along with friends, playing either football or cricket or else busy with books in library. She always longed to play with him but that happened very rare' only when he dropped at her place along with his parents or when she went to his place.

She had got something special for him today but as usual he was missing. He was a year older than her and so they went to different classes. She was thinking deeply when she heard a gang of boys playing cricket. She turned in that direction and a smile appeared on her face immediately. She spotted him finally.

She picked up a box in her little hands and ran over to him. She called out aloud

"Aham"

He felt it's high time he confess his feelings. He always had a special place in his heart for her but never dared to show that not even to her' He always hurt her knowingly or unknowingly but still she held special place for him and that gave him so much pride'

He got in to the car and ordered the driver to take him to his destination. The route seemed longer than usual as he was getting impatient to see her. To kill time he raced back to the golden old days which he held special place in his heart.

May be she thought he never bothered about them but that wasn't the truth. He values them as special as she does. Even a mere of 10 sec spent with her was special for him.

He was a bright student in school. Good in sports, studies and also extra circulars. That kept him always busy and gave him little time to spend with his best friend Gopi. Yes, she was his best friend and he couldn't deny that but he never made her feel like'. At the end of the day it always seemed like he was ignoring her.

One such was that day when he felt there's some strange connection between them. He was playing cricket with his friends in the lunch break. The match was about to end and they had only a wicket to take and he was standing by the boundary line as the opponent team had to score a 6 to win.

The ball was hit and it was coming in his direction. He was taking position to catch it when he heard her calling out for him. He couldn't help but turn his face to see her running towards him lovingly. He left the catch and got pissed.

She was standing beside him by now.

"Kuch der intezaar nahin kar sakti thi'humesha kuch na kuch gadbad karke hi rehti ho"

(Can't you wait for sometime??? You are such a spoilsport.)

He yelled in frustration and later kicked himself noticing the tears which were ready to drop any moment. She ran away from there before he could say anything more.

He saw her sitting in a bench in a corner. It was her favorite spot as it secluded her from others.

He went and took the place besides her lifting the box placed there. He opened it and felt extremely happy when he found gazar ka halwa in it.

"Thank you so much Gopi'"

He started eating while she glared at him. Here she was angry with him and without even bothering he was enjoying himself. In anger she hit him.

"Aaaa' Gopi tum mujhe maar kyun rahi ho??" Aham asked her rubbing his arm where she hit him.

(Aaah.. why are you hitting me?)

"poora ka poora halwa khaa liya'ab mein kya karoon???" She pouted.

(You ate whole of the halwa.. what should i eat now?)

"Tumhare liye haina mere pass..ek surprise'apni aankhein band karo'"

(I have a surprise for you.. close you eyes)

He said closing her eyes with his hands. Gopi obeyed him as she always does.

"Ab apni aankhein kholo'"

(Open your eyes)

He removed his hand and held out something for her in his hand.

"Dairy milk'.. Thank you.. Aham tum bohut ache ho'"

(Dairy milk... thank you... you're so kind)

She happily grabbed the bar of chocolate in his hand and started munching. He watched her smiling and happily took the share she was offering him.

"Gopi.... tumhare liye ek aur surprise hai'."

(Gopi.. I have another surprise for you)

Aham said worried a little bit.

"Sach'"

(Really??)

She said getting excited.

"Haan..par pehle promise karo ki tum hasogi nahin'"

(Yea.. but first you've to promise me that you won't laugh)

Aham said holding out his hand for her.

"Promise'"

She said placing her hand in his.

He slowly took out a small paper out of his pocket and presented her. She slowly unfolded it and the next moment she couldn't hold her laughter. She started laughing aloud.

"Ahammm.. ye..ye kya hai??"

(Ahamm... what's this?)

She questioned.

"Duffer can't you understand' this is birthday card I made for you'"

He said angrily seeing her laughing as if she got mad.

"Really' lekin mera birthday toh kal tha'"

(Really.. but my birthday was yesterday)

She said holding out her laughter.

"woh' I jus forgot to get it to the party yesterday.." He said as a matter of fact.

"Ahamm acha hua ki tumne kal nahin laaya warna sab hass hass ke pagal ho jaate'"

(Good that you didn't get it to the party yesterday otherwise everyone would have laughed like hell)

She said laughing again'

"Acha..aur mazaak udao' pehli baar mein ne tumhare liye kuch banaya hai aur tum hass rahe ho' baat mat karo mujhse.. mein jaa raha hoon.."

(Oh now you're making fun of me... for the first time i made something for you and you're laughing over it.. don't talk to me.. i'm leaving now)

He stood up to leave.

She held his hand and stopped him. She held her ears and mouthed a sorry in a sweet manner which melted him. They laughed together and both of them went their way.

She held the card which he made with his own hands just for her close to her heart smiling. Gopi came out of her thoughts as she heard commotion going on outside. She stepped out of her room and found Urmila passing by.

"Gopi puttar tu abhi tak tayyar nahin huyi'. Jaldi kar puttar' kuch der mein woh log aane wale hai'. tere jiju Elesh ka swagath kon karega'"

( Elesh is about to come...who'll welcome him...Gopi get ready soon.. )

Urmila went away in a hurry.

Coming out of his thoughts, Aham opened the window letting the fresh air hit him. It was the first time he let her know he cared for her. He smiled how even as a child he wanted to see her smiling always and felt very happy after seeing her laugh so much that day.

His happiness was short-lived as the driver announced that the car needs to get a repair right now. He got down and kicked his feet in frustration.
