Neel Selfless?

I am having a hard time accepting Neel as a saint that the show is painting him as. I think Neel was very selfish and wanted Saloni to stay as a child, so she can depend on him. I mean if he truely want Saloni to get better, he would gotten help from Nishi or have gone to Saloni's family from the start. Also he quickly gave up helping restore Saloni's memory after only two tries. I mean Nahar and Nishi do more in helping Saloni in one week than he did in three months. He used Nahar's anger as a excuse to keep Saloni away from her loved ones. Once he could not use that excuse anymore, he had to admit defeat
