'I'm idealistic and stubborn'
Gold Awards winner Rajshri Thakur on wanting to get away from soaps
Saloni ka safar
"It's been a wonderful journey so far in 'Saat Phere' (Zee). Although it's two years now, I haven't got bored of my character. Earlier, I was fighting other people's battles. Now I will be facing a personal crisis. I can't divulge much about the storyline but it's going to be very engrossing."
As simple as Saloni
"The channel, the creative department and I mutually decided upon my simple look. I didn't want loud saris or make-up because Saloni is down-to-earth. Neeta and Winnie Malhotra have given me saris and accessories that go with my character."
Saloni and me
"I identify with Saloni in many ways. Like her, I give a lot of importance to family. I am idealistic and stubborn too. If I feel something is right, I will go with that and not worry about what others think. Even in my college days, I would end up getting into a lot of fights in local trains. I would speak up for the one in the right."
Getting 'real'
"I consider myself lucky to have played the protagonist in my debut show. But like every actor, I have the greed to do something more. Though 'Saat Phere' takes up most of my time, I want to do a non-fiction show. I have been offered reality shows but I couldn't accommodate them due to lack of dates."
My hubby Sanjyot
"Marriage to Sanjyot (Vaidya) makes me feel complete. The sense of togetherness, translates into the sharing of joys and sorrows. Sanjyot has done theatre and even a tele-film with me before marriage. So he knows the industry well. I don't have to explain late pack-ups and early reporting to him. My in-laws too are supportive. Whenever I win an award, they make sure that it is displayed in the living room (laughs). I can see it in their eyes that they are proud of me. That's rewarding in itself."
