Saat Phere has completed 500 episodes.. how does it feel? I'm very happy. Hopefully, there will be many more such occasions to celebrate.. including winning more awards (smiles). Don't you think the show has veered from its original concept - the story of a dark girl in a traditional set-up? Yeah, initially it was about Saloni , being ousted or not being treated well because of her complexion. But now there are other compli- cations in her married life.. her dark skin is no longer the issue. This change wasn't planned. What makes Saat Phere different from other saas-bahu shows? Saat Phere is hardly a saas-bahu soap. It deals with a lot of social issues. Widow remarriage being one of them. Do you identify with Saloni? Yes, quite a lot. Saloni is a family- oriented woman. I'm no different. Recently, Sachin Shroff's character was beaten up by a bunch of women. Do you think that's a fitting punish- ment for a rapist? (Pauses) That's a dicey question. Rape causes unimaginable trauma to the victim. In a way, I guess the punishment is justified. That doesn't mean you can take the law in your hands. Though, I do feel that the punishment given to rapists isn't enough. Why haven't you signed up for anything else? You've even stopped doing ads. Saat Phere takes up nearly 25 days a month. I've no time for ads. Also, since I'm married now, I'd rather spend time with my family (smiles). You started out with radio.. any plans of going back to it in the future? Radio is more like a 9 to 5 job. Now since I'm acting, I obviously can't take it up. But if it's an on and off flexible schedule, why not? I love the medium.
