should serials have a deadline?

The most irritating issues regarding serials are when they get out of hand and become a nuisance with no story line left, characters are left high and dry, emotions ,feelings, values, ideals, trust ,nothing seems to have any value..it's a rat race about quantity and not quality.....creatives run out of ideas and there is nothing but havoc going on.

just as there are 3 hr films, there should be serials that should run for a stipulated period of time.Saat Phere can be given an ending any moment but they have dragged it beyond repair with you too losing his memory.

Do you really think serials should run on and on?

Yes, I fully agree. They should be allotted some pre-defined time.

me too. Most irritting thing about them is they go in circles motion where thre is no end. They just should allocate fix time for each issue resolve and go to other issue rather tahn boring us to death. Also serial makers should listen to viewer's opinion
It should be taken off when it looses its charm.

yeah they all should have deadlines. they just go in circles and make us waste our time. esp. saat phere these days...i could be doing something much more productive or watching some other show that actually has a storyline.... other that watching SP.

My opinion is yes and no. yes, saat phere should come to a solution and end the main problem due to the fact that one main conflict(neel trying o break up nahar and saloni) has been dragged too far. this has also led to many other problems which have not been fully addressed(ex.tara's baby)
No, saat phere should not come to a complete end. Soap Operas have the potential to last for decades. American Soaps last that long due to the fact that their problems arise slowly and are not as big. When they do have big ones they are different to past big ones. Soaps should not always have one hero(saloni) and just one villan who gets trapped. Soaps should have different people doing different things and not always just trying to break up saloni's family or get money from them. Another way to resolve this issue of repitition is to make a time lapse so everyone is older and the plot fully shifts, introducing new characters, but also keeping the same old favorites.

what you say is right to some extent....soaps like Bold and the Beautiful has been on air since 18 years if i am not mistaken..there r people who follow it.it's larger than life now.....but serials from the Indian point of view should not be so bizzare that it makes the viewer feel stupid that whatever crap is shown ,we have to accept.....it should go on for a year or two if it starts getting meaningless and beyond repair.
