Bravo for the serial for bringing up social issues which plague our country.
Just like widowhood, or being a spinster, being issue-less doesn't make any woman any less a woman. But the irony of the situation is that in most cases, though a woman is supposed to be the "shakti" according to our scriptures, she is ill-treated and abused mostly by other women in the family or in the society! (ramas, I understand and sympathize that you had to go through this, but at the end of the day, this probably made you a better woman!)
Why is it that a woman's fate blamed if she is child-less.. its not as if she doesn't want to be a mother! And being a mother doesn't mean that you have to give birth to a child, even when a child is adopted and cared for, that's motherhood, infact, its much more precious, than the mother who just gives birth and abandons the child!
Motherhood is the unconditional love and the values that you instill in your kids..the hand that holds you when the going gets tough.. the security blanket thats always there to turn back to, its much more than just giving birth. I am reminded of the incident that I heard sometime back about a teacher, who is a spinster, who takes care of a boy (who was a poor child...his actual mother died of cancer and father was a drunkard) and guides him and today he is a well-to-do and respected doctor. Thats motherhood...and I salute this kind of motherhood... thats woman as a "shakti".
And obviously Kaveri, and the likes of her in our society are a disgrace to this "motherhood".
