Nivedita Bhattacharya returns with Saat Phere

This week, television actress Nivedita Bhattacharya will become the latest entrant in Saat Phere. Nivedita plays Saloni's distant relative Urvashi, who unintentionally ends up creating differences in the family.

Nivedita, an established television actor has acted in several serials like Kartavya, Mujhe Dor Koi Khiche, Dil Kya Kare, Kundali, Margarita and Bhagwan Bachaye Inko. She was last seen in Ayushmaan and K Street Pali Hill before she went on a six-months sabbatical.

Nivedita says, "I decided to take a little break. The daily grind of television took me away from theatre. Also, when I was doing daily serials, I wasn't getting enough time to introspect. And one often tends to lose perspective of where one intends to move in life. So, I utilised this time to return to theatre and did plays like Loving Bombay, Sir Sir Sarla and Ek Kadam Aage."

Despite doing several television shows, Nivedita's rsum doesn't have any saas-bahu shows. She says, "As an actor, I didn't want to get repetitive or stereotyped. I consciously tried to do different roles and discover myself as an actor."

Although she has done pretty well for herself on television, her film career has been restricted only to one film, Kya Kehna (where she plays Preity Zinta's sister-in-law) "I did Kya Kehna because I wanted to work with Kundan Shah. I wanted to act in films even after that. But no good roles came along," she says.

Few know that she is married to film actor Kay Kay Menon. The twosome are known to be a rather private couple. Ask her why and she simply says: "We prefer to be like that!"
