i think so far saat phere is a great show, because if we look carefully, it enlightens us about indian history and places age old issues in a modern context, indicating that social injustice still exists in many corners of india. issues such as widow remarriage, dowry, colour discrimination, the mistreatment towards low caste people are all issues that are part of indian history, which seems to be the past, but in reality it is simply covered with the superficial layer of so called technology and modernity. when saloni's mom said to gayatri, "i wish you too had died with your husband", there's a subtle allusion to the whole sati issue.
i think so far, the directors have done great in showing justice for widows, and unmarried girls (getting married without dowry). it has also nicely juxtaposed modernity and orthodoxy by the various characters, such as manno bhabi and saloni vs. samar and ambika. but i think now it's time to show a little bit of justice done to those belonging to lower castes. so far, neel has only been shown as rejected, humiliated, used for people's selfish desires and as a poor guy who woulnd't even get a decent job. hopefully they show him being successful and happily married (that means getting rid of shubhra) and i hope somehow he will shut the mouths of those arrogant upper caste fools!
