Saas Vs Bahu, the new reality show on Sahara, features popular actors, who are out to prove their supremacy in a dance competition between television's mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law. Krutika Desai, Jayati Bhatia, Rita Bhaduri, Himani Shivpuri, Kittu Gidwani, Komalika Guha, Shoma Anand, Seema Kapoor, Priya Arya, Mahru Sheikh and Kishori Shahane comprise the saas' team. The bahu's team includes Juhi Parmar, Shilpa Saklani, Chavi Mittal, Amita Chandekar, Lata Sabarwal, Saumya Tandon, Kirti Gaekwad, Daljeet Kaur, Rucha Gujarati and Anchal Dwivedi among others. "The key to any reality show is the concept which gives audience a reason to watch. The premise of saas-bahu conflict has become a genre of its own on television. We thought why not give it another dimension," says Sahara One's business head Nilanjana Purkyayestha. Elaborating further, Nilajana says Saas Vs Bahu combines the best of fiction and reality. "As a show we hope to ignite passions in every living room, unite the family in debating the great saas-bahu divide and entertain the young and old with great performances and drama," she adds. Veteran film and television actress Aroona Irani and choreographer Longinus Fernandes will judge the show. "The format is very interesting," says Saumya Tandon who is competing against her reel life saas Krutika Desai of Aaisa Desh Hai Mera. "I love dancing but have no formal training. Here I am getting paid to learn dance and compete. It's not just a dance show. It has lot of drama and one-upmanship." Krutika, on the other hand, says the show will bring out unusual drama and rivalry between saas and bahus. "I was petrified of dancing. But I liked the concept so much that I decided to take it up," says Krutika. For Rita Bhaduri the concept of young Vs old is exciting enough. "I haven't danced for many years after I stopped doing films. With this show I will get a chance to dance on TV though it is bit difficult for me at my age," confesses Rita. If dancing is a problem for older actors, it is also a case with some of the youngsters like Chavi Mittal and Daljeet Kaur. "I need lot of spoon-feeding from my choreographer," says Chavi. Adds Daljeet, "I am completely new to reality shows and the competition is tough." www.deccan.com |
