I agree with scinerd's points. I really think the initial persuasion from Toasty was required to get Pashu n Malti to start noticing each other again. Otherwise they would have just continued with their current bachelorhood trying to please their parents. End of the day people and marriages deserve a second chance if both partners have some feelings left..
