Adnan Sami has roped in Shubha Mudgal to sing an item number Bichua (again this song lacks creative tune in antara while mukhra is OK, rhythm is typical of Adnan) and for vada tumse, Pt Jasraj and Parveen Sultana, I think they have bailed out the otherwise ordainary song. Here is link to listen to them:

ROCK ON

Finally with the music of Rock On (SEL) the rock music has entered the Hindi music and in full force, soemthing started by RD Burman with dum maro dum in 1971. Now we have nearly all genre of Western music in Hindi, recently Jaane tu (title theme of same movie by ARR) was pure Jazz.

This movie album might sound like private album of Farhan Akhtar (director of the film) as he has sung 5 out of 9 songs, sounds like he is a die hard fan of Aerosmith and always wanted to have a band of his own.

The music by Shankar Ehsaan Loy is catchy and the song rock on immediately reminded me of background score (BGS) of Lakshya when Hritik and his troop is trying to vertical climb Tiger Hills. Actually this song is an expansion of Lakshya's BGS. But then the former also is SEL composition.

I find this version of Hindi Rock better then Himesh's naam hai tera. Of course when it is rock there would be comparison with Atif also and I leave that on audience.

Lyrics are on the softer side (Javed Akhtar Saab) and I think a harder version would not have got accepted by us. So Rock On..!!

On a serious note we should be thankful to intelligent film makers like farhan and Aamir, they are changing face of Hindi film and when it happens the face of music also changes spontaneously like Maniratnam did in last decade.

Rasny Shaab, look at beautiful things and improve your sight. Listen to Himeshji and improve your hearing.😉
Thanks for info on New "Rock On". Music should never be stagnant and should keep evolving and improving. I am glad that Indian music is continually improving in most areas.

But what about Classical...?

Classical music is unfortunately struggling to survive. Classical music forms part of a country's culture and the younger generation should be taught to appreciate it. Once a person acquires a taste for it I doubt they will ever want to give it up, because without it there will be a vacuum in their lives.

It is like alcohol unless you like rock music you won't listen to it. It is far less evolved form of music and basically expression of raw energy that is why every one loves it in University and in grihasth jeewan switched over to ghazal/classical etc...🤣
