Hello Friends,
Retro Caf is back with another wonderful theme. This week we will have a Women's Day Special and the theme is ...
Solah Shringar
Solah Shringar is the sixteen adornment of a woman which she undergoes to bring out the glowing radiance to beautify herself. Solah stands for sixteen and the term shringar is associated with Sri (or Laksmi), the goddess of female beauty, good luck, prosperity, and fertility. Sri-Laksmi is depicted as a model Hindu wife.

The epitome of a traditional Bride is the way she looks and the way she dresses. The red bindi on her forehead, the sindoor on her maang , the kohl lining enchanting eyes, a healthy, bright and glowing face, the mangalsutra proudly handing down her neck and other jewellery adoring her from head to toe is the look of a picture of a traditional Indian bride. And this radiant and glowing look is the gift of "Solah Shringar".
This act of solah shringar has found its way in many poets expressions, in many famous artists canvas and has been captured in the reels of Indian films. Bollywood music has a khazana of memorable and enchanting songs dedicated to this self beautification process called solah shringar. This week we will walk down memory lane and listen to some beautiful songs dedicated to this theme.
