Similarly some others need to get over their fixation with all things new.

Rajesh Roshan is certainly entitled to his opinion because he has worked with singers like Kishore, Lata, Asha etc as well as the new ones like Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Kunal Ganjawaala, Lucky Ali etc. He must have seen a difference in the attitude of the singers, their devotion to their craft and so on.

Why blame him for his opinion which he would have formed based on his own experiences? Besides, he is not one of those MDs who could not keep up with the times. Every movie he composed for including the last one - has had some hit songs which shows that he knows how to compose even for the new generation.

He said that when Kishore or Lata recorded a song for him, he felt as if it was a prized possession. Indeed, "Dil kya kare" should be his prized possession, it is so beautifully composed. How can he get the same satisfaction from a song like "Na tum jaano na hum" sung by Lucky Ali?

I disagree , Rajesh Roshan has not really said anything about this song, he might as well think even this could be a prized possession. I feel this rendering of "Na tum Jaaano na hum..." is itself an well justified one compared to Dil Kya kare.. In my opinion there will be many singers who will do good in Dil kya kare ..but not all of them will do justice to the Na Tum janoo na hum..

Absolutely. Blending both is much better.

Well good songs and compositons will always be immortalised and tastes and trends in music will keep progressing and changing too. Similarly the modern day composers are expected to think and work faster using modern technology to assist them as each day lost is costing the producers a lot of time and money. Several Music Directors like Himeshji store thousands of ther compositions in their computers and using the computers they are able to save a lot of time in composing, writing and deciding. The best composers need only a blank sheet of paper and they start writing the music straight away. 😉 AS for singers now there is a huge talent pool available from Saregamapa Enterprises. 😆

Well to my mind there are so many beautiful compositions even nowadays. VS is currently at the top I think and they are not complaining about lack of singers and even Big B is also giving a hand. So far only Ashaji complained that her voice had been twisted and reconfigured by HR, but this should be expected in the case of modern fast beat songs, rap etc. We do not need a very good voice for modern songs, I think. Sometimes horrible voices are appropriate.

For classical and semiclassical songs there will be not much technology interfearance so a pure good voice will be needed. Chitraji you fall in this group.😆
